2018-2019 Campus Internship – Field Research Co-Op (Texas)
Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for an 6-month Field Research Co-op.
This position is an integral part of a team committed to product development.
Several research centers house both plant breeding and trait development research activities.
Sharing resources across these breeding and trait development groups facilitates more efficient integrated product development.
The individual will be involved with the daily operations at their research center.
Position duration is May to December 2019. The Field Research Co-op is involved with spring and summer responsibilities including:
field plot research, planting, plot establishment and maintenance, organizing and completing pollination, and data collection of traits important to a breeding program. Supervision of temporary employees is expected. Fall responsibilities will consist of combine operation, note taking, and rating individual plots for various agronomic traits. Post-harvest duties include assisting with seed packaging to meet off-season nursery and greenhouse deadlines.A key component of this position will be the collection of high quality data on specific traits of economic importance. The individual will be expected to travel to other locations as part of the data collection process. As part of the program, the individual will be expected to lead groups of co-workers to complete required tasks, and to conduct a research project whose results will be presented on a seminar at the end of the period.Qualifications:Education and ExperienceCollege Junior or Senior standingEducation focus in Agronomy, Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, Genetics, Biology or a related fieldAgricultural background beneficialMinimum GPA requirement of 3.0Must be enrolled at an accredited university at the time of internshipCompetenciesPrevious research experience preferred, but not required.
Computer skills (Excel, Access, and electronic data collection) are a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary. Candidate should be able to work independently or with a team.
