Reporting to the Senior Specialist, US Retail Tax, in Loveland Colorado the US Tax Accountant (“Advisor”) is a critical part of a team responsible for Nutrien’s US tax compliance. The Advisor collects data necessary to meet compliance requirements and works closely with multiple accounting functions to assure tax information is timely and accurately reported. The Advisor also prepares and maintains the working papers supporting the federal schedule M’s, state apportionment and will be responsible for assisting with certain income tax audits. The Advisor directs tax notices received to the appropriate party for resolution and assists with other tax related duties as assigned.What you will do: Works as a part of the Nutrien tax team to complete the US tax compliance including:Calculating and documenting schedule M adjustmentsCalculating and processing estimated tax payments and extensionsCollecting state apportionment informationCollecting and providing legal with financial information for annual reportsProcessing returns through One SourceResearching tax questionsWorking on tax planning opportunitiesReconciling financial and tax information on the books and recordsIn more complex tax situations, utilizes resources available at various levels to ensure proper recording of the tax effect of transactionsCoordinates and helps provide information on assigned federal and state income tax auditsWorks closely with the broader Finance & Accounting teams in Loveland, Northbrook, Calgary and Saskatoon Builds and maintains successful relationships with all US external stakeholders including outside advisors, external auditors, governmental tax auditors, and tax associationsAny other job responsibilities as required.What you will bring: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Law from a recognized institution 3 to 5 years’ experience practicing tax in either a global organization or a larger Tax Consulting Firm supporting Global organizationsWorking knowledge of US tax compliance and accounting for income taxesCPA designation or US Master of Tax Designation is considered an assetExperience using any of the following computer systems: SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, One Source and Longview, is considered an asset.Flexibility to adapt to changing environmentDesire to be a critical component of a successful team and to develop and grow professionallyAbility to explore and implement best practices Ability to provide recommendations and advise decision makers on tax mattersAbility to communicate effectively at all levels in the organizationExcellent critical thinking skills, strong attention to detail and processesStrong business orientation/business acumen and keen analytical skillsAbility to have some fun along the way Are you a good match?
