We currently have an Accounting Manager position available at Simplot's headquarters in Boise, ID. SUMMARYManages record to report processes for assigned function, including monthly, quarterly and annual closes in accordance with US GAAP. Directs the actives of accounting staff and provide for their professional development. Participate in annual external audits for assigned function. Collaborate closely with internal customers to ensure business alignment. RESPONSIBILITIESSupervises the requested financial analysis of interim and annual operating results.Produces accurate and timely financial reports, for internal and external use, in accordance with GAAP and organizational procedures.Direct and evaluates the activities of accounting staff, including managing the monthly close process and reviewing and approving account reconciliations, and provides for their professional development; analyzes and solves accounting problems.Recommends appropriate accounting policies and practices of the organization; works closely with external auditors, and other financial and non-financial professionals. SKILLS: Accounting: Develops an accounting system for the management of assets, liabilities and transactions; Formulates accounting practices for general ledger, A P, A R and assets; Evaluates the organization's and industry's practices on how capital assets are depreciated; Evaluates organization and industry practices on how capital assets are depreciated; Discusses process and data flow between accounting systems and sub systems.Financial-Accounting Systems: Implements high level data flows between financial and accounting systems; Manages key interfaces and interdependencies with other applications systems; Evaluates systems for compliance with industry standards and governmental regulations; Evaluates systems for compliance with industry standards and governmental regulations; Initiates enhancement, conversion and retirement plans for core financial applications.Financial Reporting: Uses basic tools to create simple financial reports; Successfully follows organizational methods and procedures for financial report writing; Monitors compliance with organizational standards for financial report writing; Analyzes errors or inaccuracies in financial reports; Follows organizational practices and guidelines for product profitability reporting.GAAP: Applies specific accounting principles in the context of given business situations; Uses established accounting practices in day to day assignments; Researches and reports any contradictions that may arise in regards to GAAP vs
local law; Analyzes internal and external sources of information for accounting practices; Solves conflicting interpretations of the meaning and application of GAAP.Internal Controls: Participates in the testing, review and analysis of existing internal controls; Completes, files and maintains forms used for internal control documentation; Makes recommendations for the enhancement of certain internal controls; Applies new technology based solutions to specific internal control processes; Studies and evaluates the audit trails of various operational processes. REQUIREMENTSBachelor's Degree from 4-year college or university5-7 years of experienceSupervisory experience preferredCPA preferredCombination of education, training and/or experience may be considered for this position.
