Advocacy and Literacy Officer
This position is responsible for designing, implementing and coordinating an organization-wide platform that promotes the integration of agricultural literacy and advocacy across multiple areas within the organization. The Advocacy and Literacy Officer must ensure that advocacy and literacy activities, resources and strategic plan are in alignment with the mission and vision of the organization as well as supports the integrated agricultural education model. This role will work collaboratively with multiple managers to guarantee that the most effective advocacy and literacy methodologies are being utilized to enhance the skill development of our stakeholders in all programs across the organization. This position will orchestrate the design and development of student-centered, chapter-centered and advisor-centered resources and content to help advance agricultural literacy and advocacy for agriculture, FFA, and agricultural education at the local level. This position will also help lead strategic initiatives for the organization by working with internal and external stakeholders. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Manage and develop content and strategies to support advocacy and literacy with specific outcomes.Collaborate with internal staff and external stakeholders in the creation of engaging education materials and resources.Provide guidance and insight in the development of high-quality programming.Collaborate with marketing and communications specialists in developing key messages and establishing a social media presence around advocacy and literacy.Interact with sponsors, donors and other key stakeholders with a vested interest in advocacy and literacy.Create and manage a seasonal internship program to include recruitment, hiring, and training.Work in a collaborative team environment to align advocacy and literacy programs and materials with the organization’s mission, vision and leadership precepts.Create and implement plans that focus on the development of content, specialized resources, and guidelines for advocacy and literacy related programs, products and services.Manage budget and contracts to adhere to financial responsibilities.Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to develop ideas into executable plans.Interact, influence and work with a diverse group of internal/external stakeholders.Provide excellent customer service to internal and/or external stakeholders.Ability to coordinate all aspects of a large program or more than one small program.Confident in speaking in front of small and large groups, including facilitation skills.Strong work ethic, positive attitude, self-confidence, and must be coachable.Effectively prioritize, organize, use time-mRequirements:EDUCATION:B.A. /B.S. required. Master’s degree preferred.EXPERIENCE:Five years of relevant experience required, with one to three years of agricultural industry experience preferred.Previous management/supervisory experience required.Agricultural education / FFA experience preferred.Apply for this job.
