Position PurposeThe Agriculture Manager will be accountable for executing Cargill Proteins Live integrated poultry turkey production located in Harrisonburg, VA including feed manufacturing, breeding, egg production, hatching, commercial growout, live bird loading and transportation, plant scheduling and poult placement scheduling. This role has financial responsibility for the Dayton live operations locations and monitors site performance, creates operating objectives, and works directly with location management to facilitate improvements in areas such as cost reduction, yield improvement, quality improvement, and operating efficiency. In addition, this role will partner with the other Agriculture Managers across the business unit to lead broad business-wide initiatives that align with the agriculture and business unit strategy, while also improving operations and efficiencies.Principal Accountabilities 60% – Operations Management: Oversee all facets of integrated poultry turkey production, including the feed mill, hatchery, breeder, grow out, loading and transportation, plant scheduling and poult scheduling. Manage relationships and processes for independent contract producers and other outside contractors and vendors associated with live production. Interact with processing plant management in resolving bird quality issues and concerns. Participate in problem solving analysis as well as the formulation of solutions relative to field issues involving breeders and commercial growout. Formulate and drive process and cost improvement initiatives within all departments. Monitor performance of contract growout and breeder rearing operations, company owned breeder egg production facilities and hatchery operations. Champion animal welfare and salmonella reduction initiatives within all departments and within the grower base to ensure food safety standards are met.
30% – People and Talent Management: Coach and direct department managers engaged feed manufacturing, breeder and hatchery management, growout and live haul transportation. Accountable for performance management, talent development, succession planning and engagement directly and through subordinate managers and supervisors. Determines resource need and plans for future workforce needs.10% – Strategy Planning, Industry Involvement and Other: Participate in the development of the overall agriculture strategy; develop and execute a strategy specific to the Dayton team. Network and act as a liaison with industry members to share best practices and leverage knowledge to improve food safety and efficiencies. Attend animal health and welfare meetings held at local universities and other locations. Other duties as assigned by manager.

Required QualificationsBachelor?s Degree
Minimum 6 years of poultry experience specifically related to live operations (i.e. feed, hatchery, breeder, etc.)
Minimum 4 years of direct management/leadership experience (influencing, coaching, developing, managing through others)
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Travel customers and vendors is required (10%). Member of Ag Leadership Team. Offer concise explanations to any variances to plan. Lead and assist in developing team members.?Preferred QualificationsMaster?s Degree
