Challenge yourself with a stable company that offers:Starting wage $10 to $11.00 per hour plus benefits – total value $30,420Travel incentive for specific work locationsStep Plan Training Program with pay increasesQuarterly Production Bonus ProgramMedical, Prescription, Dental, and Vision InsuranceLife InsuranceShort and Long Term DisabilityCompany paid Pension Plan401(k) with company matchPaid holidays and vacationEducational reimbursementSummary: Work towards developing and meeting farm goals and daily targets by producing and raising quality pigs. ?Works with other crew members under the direction of the Herdsman, Breeding, or Farrowing Head of Department and/or the Farm Leader.?Essential Duties:Assist in moving animals and maintaining efficient animal flowsFeed, water, vaccinate, and perform general animal husbandry tasks including basic veterinary proceduresTreat sick animals with a variety of pharmaceuticals by injection, oral application, and/or other methods as requiredMaintain accurate recordsFollow the Standard Operating ProceduresAssist with facility and equipment maintenanceAssist with maintaining barn, office cleanliness, and laundry dutiesSanitize and wash multiple areas on the farmPerform any other tasks necessary for the care of in a swine facilityREQUIREMENTS: ? ?Must have good work history and referencesWillingness to work as a member of a teamAbility to follow instructionsMath and accurate record keeping skillsBasic English preferredMust be able to work an average 45 hour week with average 9 hour workday, which can vary frequentlyRotating days off which requires weekend and holiday workAbility to do hard physical laborMust be able to frequently climb over, under, and around penning.Must be able to walk and stand on concrete for 9 to 12 hours per day, walking down narrow alleys and in and out of narrow penningMust be able to walk an average of 2 – 4 miles per day, occasionally up to 5 or 6Must be able to occasionally lift 50 lbsMust be able to occasionally push, pull, and drag up to 200 lbsMust be able to frequently work in situations two feet above the floor in a leaned-over or squatted positionMust understand that Smithfield is a producer of high quality pork for human consumption and must be supportive of the mission of raising swine for meatMust be able to tolerate and willing to learn and perform the following tasks: euthanasia, castration, vaccinations, piglet processing, ear tagging for identification, taking blood samples and other procedures normal to animal husbandryMust be able to occasionally operate a high pressure washing system.Must be able to work with and around a wide range of antibiotics (i.e. penicillin)Must be able to tolerate blood, animal dander, manure, dust, odors, and frequently noisy conditionsApply for this job.
