BMCC uses distance education learning modalities to serve residents of the region as well as a small number of students from around the world.?Job Description:As a member of the Agriculture Department this position will organize and assist in the various department functions.? Responsible to create a culturally diverse learning environment that employs best teaching and learning practices through various delivery modes in order to meet current and future educational needs of the communities served by the College.? Must be able to facilitate the success of individuals representing a broad range of academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background.? Organize, maintain and operate the agriculture facilities and equipment. Courses could include Agricultural Business, Crops and Soil Science, Horticulture and Agricultural Mechanics. Actively participate within a team concept and as member of various college committees and conform to the guiding principles of our College culture.??Essential Functions:?Instruct students in the Agriculture Department as well as other agricultural departmental related courses as assigned.Provide academic advising and planning assistance to students in the Agriculture Program.Facilitate specialized training in workshops in agricultural subjects at various locations in the service area.Properly care for animals, crops and equipment on college properties.Assist department in developing budgets as requested.Assist in recruiting students.Attend and participate in department meetings.Order agricultural supplies such as plants, feed, fencing, and other materials needed for instruction.Maintain Agricultural laboratories, greenhouse, and other facilities as needed.Work closely with all department members in formulating and implementing agriculture-related plans.Develop, arrange, coordinate, and instruct classroom sessions and seminars and maintain liaison with cooperative work experience employers to assure students receive maximum benefit from study-related jobs.Maintain close connections with business and industry to assist students in finding proper employment upon completion of programs.Participate in professional development activities and organizations as appropriate.Oversee College Work Study students and CWE (Cooperative Work Experience) students.Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Extensive knowledge of computers, Ag business and greenhouse operations.Ability to organize and maintain programs with a minimum of supervision.Strong written and oral communication skills.?Requirements:Required Education and Experience:BS degree in Agricultural field is required, a Master's degree in Ag Education is preferred.Valid Oregon Teaching License, preferred.Three (3) years of instruction and curriculum development preferably in a community college.A valid driver's license is required.Physical Requirements:Ability to work in the field.Ability to operate different types of machinery.Ability to lift at least 80 pounds.?Additional Information:This is a full time, tenured track position with excellent benefits including: Medical, dental, vision, life, accidental death & dismemberment, and long term disability insurance; Employer paid contribution to retirement; Sick leave accrual; Five paid holidays; Three personal days; and Tuition waiver for employee and qualified dependents.?Salary:?
