Agronomic Research Specialist – #01QEV
We are seeking a motivated Agronomic Research Specialist. This position will be located in Thomasboro, IL, reporting to our Operations Lead. The Agronomic Research Specialists contribute in all phases of breeding programs and will have the opportunity to work in all operations related to field trials, seed preparation, field plot management, data collection, harvesting and trial plots for Cotton, Corn, Wheat, and Sorghum. Key Responsibilities:Administer breeding nurseries, interact with scientists and breeders on and off-site to support and advance the pipeline Participate in planting operations, field/plot maintenance, pollination, data collection and harvest. Utilization of research equipment such as planters, combines and hand held computers for note taking. Participate in computer related activities to support data collection and QCSupport seed processing operations, drying, packaging and shippingPerform safety inspections, and assist in providing safety training and guidance to field personnel. Supervision and training of temporary employees Work closely with other research sites to keep program operating efficiently Participate with team to successfully maintain Quality Standards and support the Quality Management System. Assist in projects and perform other duties as and when required Overnight travel for training and other meetings are likely during the yearQualifications:Required Skills/Experience:Bachelor???s degree in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, or related field of studyAbility to work extended hours during the peak planting and harvesting seasonsExperience utilizing Microsoft Office ProgramsAbility to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary teamDemonstrated ability to balance and prioritize tasksEffective verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organizational and record keeping skills Desired Skills/Experience: Familiarity with breeding and research methodologiesKnowledge of crop production, farming practices, and farm equipment operation and repairKnowledge of basic statistics and experimental design principlesPesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain) Bayer successfully completed the acquisition of Monsanto in June 2018, bringing together Monsanto???s leadership in seeds and plant traits with Bayer???s leadership in chemical and biological crop protection.
