Agronomic Research Specialist – #01R56
We are seeking a motivated Agronomic Research Specialist. This position will be located in Hazelwood, MO, reporting to our Seed Center Lead. The Agronomic Research Specialist will support seed processing, packaging and distribution within the company???s broad field testing network. The successful candidate will have interactions with Global Breeding personnel across the globe including multi-crop interactions spanning corn, soybeans, cotton, and wheat, as well as with breeders, scientists, automation engineers, and software developers. In addition, this role will have the opportunity to work with cutting edge proprietary seed processing and packaging technology. Key Responsibilities:Primary oversight of seed processing operations on site ensuring quality, accuracy and timely delivery to field testing hubs globallySupport Seed Center Lead in capacity management, forecasting, and prioritization of seed processing and deliveryEnsure execution of processing protocols as defined in partnership with breeders, scientists, and field testing teamsManage seed and trial inventory and distribution and coordinate physical seed movement between North America field testing hubs and to/from winter seed production locations, including locations outside of the United StatesSupplies forecasting and procurement of material and suppliesProvide process improvement leadership for existing and future workflows to drive continuous improvementTraining and supervision of temporary employeesCollaborate with developers to provide software requirements for machine and process control (automation)Accountable for quality control and continual assessment of processes against established key performance metricsPerform safety inspections, and assist in providing safety training and guidance to field personnel. Participate with the team to successfully maintain the Quality Management StandardsQualifications:Required Skills/Experience:Minimum of Bachelor???s Degree in Plant and Soil Science, Agricultural Systems Management, Mechanized Systems Management, Agricultural Systems Technology, Supply Chain Management Logistics, or related fieldStrong computer skills related to data capture, organization and analysisStrong foresight, planning, prioritization and organization skills Ability to quickly identify and troubleshoot problemsDemonstrated effective written and oral communicationAbility to work extended hours during peak operational seasonsAbility to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and demonstrate leadershipKnowledge of research-scale seed processing equipment and best practicesFamiliarity with plant breeding methodologies Desired Skills/Experience: Masters of Science DegreeFamiliarity with breeding methodologiesExperience leading large crewsBroad knowledge of crop production and farming practicesMO Pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain)Knowledge of process improvement principles such as LEAN and/or Six Sigma Bayer successfully completed the acquisition of Monsanto in June 2018, bringing together Monsanto???s leadership in seeds and plant traits with Bayer???s leadership in chemical and biological crop protection.
