Agronomic Research Specialist – #01RLV
We are seeking a motivated Agronomic Research Specialist. This position will be located in Lubbock,TX, reporting to our Operations Lead. The Agronomic Research Specialists contribute in all phases of breeding programs and will have the opportunity to work in all operations related to field trials, seed preparation, field plot management, data collection, harvesting and trial plots for Cotton, Corn, Wheat, and Sorghum. Key Responsibilities:Utilization of research equipment such as planters, combines and hand held computers for note taking. Manage different operations, seeding, management of plants, data collection, harvest, etc. Assist in computer related activities and provide support for testing activities such as operation of shelling systems, seed counters, and seed packaging Perform safety inspections, and assist in providing safety training and guidance to field personnel. Supervision and training of temporary employees Work closely with other research sites to keep program operating efficiently Participate with team to successfully maintain the Quality Standards Assist in other projects and perform other duties as and when required Overnight travel during the planting and harvest season is required.Qualifications:Required Skills/Experience:Bachelor???s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture 2+ years industry equivalent experience Ability to work extended hours during the peak planting and harvest seasons Experience utilizing MS Word and MS Excel Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams Demonstrated ability to balance and prioritize tasks Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral Basic understanding of farm equipment maintenance Desired Skills/Experience: Broad knowledge of crop production and farming practices Broad knowledge of farm equipment operation and repair Class A CDL (or ability to obtain) Pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain) Familiarity with breeding and testing methodologies Knowledge of basic statistics and experimental design principles Equipment repair, maintenance, and trouble-shooting skills related to electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems Knowledge of basic computer programming Familiarity with precision agriculture equipment Familiarity with computer and mobile based applications used in the agricultural Bayer successfully completed the acquisition of Monsanto in June 2018, bringing together Monsanto???s leadership in seeds and plant traits with Bayer???s leadership in chemical and biological crop protection.
