Agronomic Research Specialist
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Agronomic Research Specialist, are to:
Primary oversight of small plot seed packaging, ensuring quality, accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery to multiple field testing hubs globally;
Support Seed Center Lead in capacity management, forecasting, and prioritization of seed processing operations;
Ensure execution of processing protocols as defined in partnership with breeders, scientists, and field testing teams;
Manage seed and trial inventory and distribution and coordinate physical seed movement between North America field testing hubs and to/from winter seed production locations, including locations outside of the United States;
Supply forecasting and procurement;
Provide process improvement leadership for existing and future workflows to drive continuous improvement;
To be responsible for training and supervision of up to 50 temporary and/or contract employees;
Collaborate with developers to provide software requirements for machine and process control (automation);
Be accountable for quality control and continual assessment of processes against established key performance metrics;
Perform safety inspections, and assist in providing safety leadership, training and guidance to temporary and/or contract employees;
Participate with the team to successfully maintain the Quality Management Standards.

Minimum of a bachelors degree in Plant and Soil Science, Agricultural Systems Management, Mechanized Systems Management, Agricultural Systems Technology, Supply Chain Management Logistics, or a related field;
Strong computer skills related to data capture, organization and analysis;
Strong foresight, planning, prioritization and organization skills;
Ability to quickly identify and troubleshoot problems;
Demonstrate effective written and oral communication;
Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and demonstrate leadership;
Knowledge of research-scale seed processing equipment and best practices;
Familiarity with plant breeding methodologies;
Experience leading a large to medium size crews (seasonal/temporary labor);
Ability to work extended hours during peak operational seasons;
Broad knowledge of crop production and farming practices;
Missouri Pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain);
Valid Drivers License.
Knowledge of process improvement principles such as LEAN and/or Six Sigma.
