Come grow with us! General Purpose and Scope of Position:The Agronomy Risk Manager serves as the Central Geography expert on all agronomic application risks. This includes hazard, product, operational, commercial as well as other types of agronomic related risks.  In addition, this position works with operations management to ensure agronomic risks are identified, analyzed, treated, measured and controlled.  This position will work closely with functional enterprise risk management and regulatory “owners” inside our organization to include, supply chain, risk management, environmental health, safety and security, product regulatory, etc.  The Agronomy Risk Manager will help establish and maintain a culture of agronomic risk prevention across the geography.This position can report out of the Wilbur-Ellis office in Minneapolis, MN; or, for the right candidate, a remote location may be considered.  Key Skills and Abilities Include:Education – BS degree in agronomy or similar field. 10+ years’ experience in an agronomy type role will be considered in lieu of a degree.Established leadership with 5+ years of experience spanning both strategic and operations roles. 5+ years in a key leadership role preferred.Requires licensing according to the regulations for the geography covered, PCA license may be required.Strong and visible leadership – Ability to quickly establish credibility and utilize strategic thinking to shape the team and strategic plan within the functional organization as well as in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders.Impact and influence — Ability to influence, develop and maintain effective internal/external relationships to facilitate change, with and without authority, and ensure cohesion across the organization. Able to promote and secure buy in from a cross-functional leadership team and peer groups within the organization.Interpersonal effectiveness — Is sensitive to different points of view and seeks to understand and resolve conflicts/issues in a constructive manner. Able to operate effectively and comfortably with different cultures, in strange and challenging situations and to direct and instruct in a respectful and polite manner.Ability, understanding and knowledge of:Ability to design, build and implement an agronomic risk management system.Ability to identify needs, develop strategy and execute against the strategy.Strong agronomy skills and understanding.Deep industry knowledge of Geographies cropsBroad experience in distribution, application and use of plant protection productsDemonstrated experience in day-to-day agronomy operationsBroad understanding of business issues, metrics, organizational linkages and customer value.Ability to challenge the organization in a manner that maintains trust and respect.Experience in project management, training and development.Familiarity with ERM frameworks and process and other functional area’s performance Key Personal Attributes Include:Aligns to company core values Integrity, Diversity, Effort, Accountability and ServiceMaintain a consistent focus on geography needs, using accountability, collaborative partnerships, and empathy to make all engagements with users and partners positive and supportive.Strong communication and presentation skills at all levels (executive, customer, individual contributor)Ability to effectively articulate complex topics in a concise mannerIdentify and drive solutions in a complex and ambiguous environment.Ability to work independently with minimum supervisionIs well organized, meets deadlines, great attention to detail and accuracy, and works well under pressureWillingness to travel and be away from home (estimated travel = 50%) Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:Solid skill in identifying and reinforcing an agronomic risk control culture by developing risk control/management systems, policies and procedures, improvement campaigns and programs to eliminate, prevent or control agronomic risks to the organizationEstablishing functional goals and objectives and tracking agronomic risk performance metrics and directly engaging in communications about the agronomy risk efforts with Area and Branch ManagersIdentifying, establishing and implementing initiatives and continuous performance improvement opportunities that align with Agribusiness Division’s agronomy risk management objectives.   including being an active participant at the branch level around agronomy risk managementStrength in ensuring the adequate assessment, prevention and management of agronomic related risks arising from operations, incidents and company products.Ability to establish and enable processes to enhance geography and operational capabilities for increased self-governance.Track record in developing measurement systems to quantify, track and benchmark agronomic risks and other functional area performance.Specific aerial inspecting, assessing, monitoring, investigating and/or recommending corrective action; conducting trend analyses, documenting compliance with standards, performing technical work, program design and implementation, and maintaining accountability of outcomes for agronomic risk related issuesDevelop aerial and ground application specific risk control plans through pilots and applicators participation in training and certification, equipment selection determined by functionality /suitability and ultimately managing agronomic liability for the aerial business proper preparation proceduresStay current and knowledgeable on local, state, and federal aerial application regulations and policies, especially those relating to FAA, EPA, DOT, DHS, CWA, ESA and OSHA. Provide guidance to area application managers. Developing, communicating, training and enforcing best practices such as pre-application field scoutingRegular reporting to geography management outlining functional accomplishments, current projects and status, future projects, challenges and any issues/concernManages the thorough and complete investigation/remediation of Crop Damage Claims, including documenting and tracking of all crop claims for Geography; Coordinates damage claim investigations with branch/area personnel; coordinates remediation efforts with Risk Management group; documents and records expenses and compensatory remediation; collaborates with Business Analyst to track expenses back to appropriate location/personnel. Compensation and Benefits:Competitive annual salary (to be determined based on experience and other factors)Comprehensive employee health and retirement benefit offerings Job Code:  AGRON03055
