SUMMARY:Duties include the following: receiving, sorting, weighing, counting, and assisting in overall process of receiving hogs to stunning area; book hog deliveries; keep accurate booking schedule; learn Carcass Merit program, weight docks, and other Tyson buying procedures; training and vacation coverage at/for Station Managers as needed; skid loader operation is required. Light maintenance may be performed. Other responsibilities include operating in a safe, humane manner while adhering to all Tyson policies and procedures. ,,,,REQUIREMENTS:Education:High School diploma or equivalent required. BS degree in Animal Science or Agriculture (preferred).Experience: ,,Individual must have general knowledge of livestock and humane animal handling. Previous swine experience preferred.Computer Skills:Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Excel and Word).Communication Skills:Able to communicate with fellow team members, producers, and truckers; bilingual helpful.Physical REQUIREMENTS:Bending is required with this position. There is lifting association with flag, tattoo hammer, and other items used in this position. Pushing/pulling is required to open and close gates; reaching with the hog handling tools is required to move hogs as well as to tattoo hogs. A full hand grasp is used when holding flags, tattoo hammer and gates. Team members are required to stand or walk for the entire shift. Minimal force is required for most tasks, i.e. opening and closing gates. Team members may be required to wear hard hat, steel toe boots and hearing protection. The temperature of the work area is seasonal and depends on outside temperatures.Other REQUIREMENTS:Ability to learn, good decision making; ability to work extended hours as required.Special Skills:Extra consideration given to team members with technical skills; must possess skills to complete Tysonpaperwork; ability to work with producers, truckers, USDA personnel, and fellow team members. The team member performing this position understands that the functions performed could affect product safety, legality and quality systems. TheSupervisor/Trainer will keep the team member appraised on job functions to meet the above requirements.
