Analytical Chemist – Erlanger, KentuckyThis is a full time, exempt position
Position Summary: Analytical Chemist position requires a scientist with a strong practical knowledge of analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis as it pertains to Food, Beverage and Flavor analysis with a specific focus on Gas chromatography and Mass SpectrometryThe purpose of this position is to provide support in an analytical capacity to internal and external ADM customers.
This position works across all technical teams providing analytical data in support of rapid product development, longer term research projects and efficient quality assurance.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
BS or higher degree in Analytical Chemistry, or closely related fields.Minimum of 5 years of Analytical Chemistry experience in the Flavor/Food/Beverage or closely related industry.Demonstrated strong knowledge of chemistry, Gas chromatography/Mass Spectrometry, spectrophotometry and general laboratory techniques.Knowledge of liquid chromatography is highly desirableAbility to flawlessly execute analytical processes using standard laboratory practices according to ADM procedures.Operational expertise in the use of instrument software (in particular ChemStation, OpenLab, MassHunter)Experience in sample preparation, including extraction techniques, column chromatography and others.Ability to troubleshoot, identify root cause and implement corrective actionPeople skills, team player and customer focusDesire to learn new skills, engaged and enthusiasticProblem diagnosis skills and independent thinker Job Description:
Operate analytical instruments, specifically GC, GC/MS, to include operational troubleshooting, sample preparation, handling samples, data analysis using instrument controlling software from different vendors.Assist in reporting results, carrying out diagnostic investigation of data deviation, presenting composite results to internal customers.Perform all duties related to sample analysis including glassware handling, sample preparation, instrument maintenance, and maintaining a clean and organized workplace. Maintain high quality records.Help contribute to problem solving.Perform duties in both S&T and QC laboratories as needed.Act as backup to Senior Analytical Chemists as required.
