The incumbent will champion Quality by Design (QbD) principles and value-creating applications of process analytical technology (PAT) within the manufacturing network. The Scientist leads analytical method development and method transfer projects for the laboratory and process analytical needs. He/she provides statistical expertise to support process improvement and quality investigations, and maintains and develops proper skills and capabilities to meet manufacturing and business needsPOSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:* Conduct laboratory or field experiments to generate PAT results. Collect and analyze technical data, generate reports including conclusions and recommendations where needed* Provide effective leadership for short term project teams addressing method, process and chemistry issues* Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues within manufacturing and research networks to identify and support potential value-creating opportunities* Possess broad understanding of PAT technologies, concepts and principles* Contribute to the development of PAT strategies with manufacturing and research partners* Coordinate or perform feasibility studies for potential new applications* Collaborate and contribute general analytical support to the GMT Analytical team* Facilitate the flow of sufficient information from all sources to fully understand customer needs, and follow up to assure business requirements are fully met* Undertake complex troubleshooting and problem-solving activities* Keeps abreast of technological advances specific to PAT, applying new techniques and methods where appropriate* Comply with all safety and quality policies and requirements. Assure that the laboratories maintain a safe and clean working area.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:* BS degree in chemistry, or chemical engineering is required* 10 years of industry experience, minimum of 5 years of process analytical experienceTECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:* Mastery of scientific principles, practices and theories with broad analytical experience* Must have strong skills in analytical and organic chemistry* Strong statistical skills, including multivariate analysis and modeling* Effective interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross functional and culturally diverse work environment.
