Animal Care Program Manager
Job DescriptionSummaryProvide coordination for Smithfield HPD Animal Care Program and activities to include all internal/external auditing and communication, responding to customer or company inquiries related to animal care, and oversight of the Smithfield HPD Animal Care Committee. ?Insure that the Animal Care Program is managed in a manner that is consistent with ISO requirements, and is integrated as much as possible with our internal Environmental Management and Safety Management systems.Essential DutiesMonitor the system by conducting frequent engagement activities with internal and external stakeholders with an interest in our animal care program activities and resultsArrange and Conduct internal Animal Care Committee Team MeetingsAnnual review and maintenance of ?Management System Standards to insure that our animal care program is consistent with said standardsAnnual review of forms and documents related to the Animal Care Program. Initiate change when neededDevelop training when neededCreate and maintain an integrated Animal Care Program reporting process that insures that all stakeholders have adequate visibility to the process and results.Create and maintain an integrated Animal Care Auditing program that meets the requirements of all internal and external stakeholders.Create and maintain a calendar of animal care activities, audits, and meetingsOversee document control in the animal care program area.Represent Smithfield HPD in the areas related to the animal care program.Insure that internal work order tracking systems are used in response to animal care issues and/or tracking.Query training and mentoringSteton – Administration tasks related to registering users and maintaining filesInsure that various production and marketing programs as defined are being completed and documented as requiredOther tasks as assigned.?Job RequirementsHigh School diploma required and five to seven years work experience in management systems coordination OR college degree in a business related field preferred and three to five years of work experience in management systems coordination.Experience in the Swine Industry preferredMust have excellent PC and software skills, most notably Word, Access, and Excel.Ability to manage multiple tasks and usersMust have excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skillsMust have project management skillsKnowledge of production skills and programsPublic presentation/teaching skillsPrefer animal care program experiencePrefer management system experiencePrefer auditing experienceMust have valid driver's license and acceptable driving record per company policyWillingness to achieve certification in Lead Auditor Training and maintain re-certification.Willingness to complete technical training courses in Train the Trainer, Project Management and Presentation Skills training.Must be able to work at a computer for long period of timesMust be able to tolerate blood, animal dander, manure, dust, odors, and noisy conditions?Must be extremely detail oriented, able to meet deadlinesMust be willing to help on farm sites when neededMust be available for occasional travel, ability to work nights and weekends when necessary.Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities, Females, Protected Veterans and Individuals with DisabilitiesApply for this job.
