GROWMARK FS, headquartered in Milford, Del., provides wholesale and retail agronomy products and services to farm customers in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT Operates commercial sprayer or floater for the purpose of applying fertilizer, crop protection products or aglime to producer fields. Inspects fields, takes soil samples and maintains and repairs plant and mobile equipment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Applies crop production inputs to fields and growing crops according to recommended rates, procedures, and following all pesticide labels. Records application data according to regulations and standards. Responsible for the inventory control and turns in application records on a daily basis. Assures all product is accounted for with either an invoice or delivery ticket. Sets up material handling, blending, storage, transport and application equipment for blending and delivery of products. Blends products according to recommended rates and procedures. Cleans containters and disposes of rinsate according to approved procedures and regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to safely operate sprayers, floaters, single or tandem axle trucks and other equipment to meet company and DOT standards. Repairs, rebuilds, and maintains a wide variety of light and heavy equipment plus facility manufacturing and shipping equipment to provide the proper image and extend the life of the equipment. Performs field or shop inspections to determine repair needs and estimated cost of repairs. Schedules maintenance and repairs of vehicles and equipment as needed. Inspects fields using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques to detect the presence of weeds, insects, diseases, and other yield limiting threats. Counts and collects samples of the weeds, insects and diseased plants within the sample area. Documents the findings and reports results to Crop Specialist. Collects soil samples using proper procedures and records results for proper identification and analysis. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Follows GROWMARK s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply. Performs all other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS Normally requires a high school diploma or the equivalent thereof, and minimum of 3 years of related work experience to demonstrate the ability to custom apply fertilizers and crop protection products and perform equipment maintenance. Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development. Proven time management and basic math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, compute rate, ratio and percents and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Understanding of basic computer skills as they relate to custom application. Ability to obtain and maintain a CDL license with required endorsements,satisfactory driving record and valid medical card. Must hold and maintain, or have the ability to obtain, all required pesticide or fertilizer applicator licenses or certifications in states where crop production inputs are applied. Responsible for renewing licenses or certifications as required and reporting status of licenses or certifications to the Location Manager. Ability to work extended hours and on-call as business conditions warrant. Occasionally exposed or required to: Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)Noisy conditionsWorking conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards, requiring utilization of appropriate safety measuresMay be required to work at varying heightsLift 51 – 70 lbs.
