The company also participates actively in promoting the concept of biological control methods in sustainable agriculture and increase the awareness of biopesticides as effective products and offers improvements to the regulatory process around the world. Position Summary: The Area Sales Manager is a member of the U.S. sales team, receiving minimal supervision while generating ever increasing profitable sales for Symborg Inc., in a defined territory. He/she works with the General Manager to set sales and gross profit goals for the company and then works with their local distributor and their PCAs/Field Reps to set individual goals, and develop sales strategies to achieve these goals. All duties and responsibilities must be performed accurately, efficiently and in full compliance with the Company’s Vision and Value Statements. This individual must approach and perform assignments enthusiastically and demonstrate a commitment to achieving excellence in the execution of all duties and responsibilities. This position is an outside sales position requiring continuous customer and field visits.  Duties and Responsibilities: Work with the General Manager to set annual sales and gross profit goals, and work aggressively to achieve those goals year over year Manage the local distributor and their PCAs/Field Reps, motivating and coaching each of them to work aggressively to meet the sales goals for his or her area by selling the value of our products Evaluate and analyze the competitive market and develop a strategy to effectively market and sell our products in these markets by increasing sales to existing customers and capturing new customers Build and maintain effective relationships with our distributor, their PCAs/Field Reps and their (our) customers that will afford us the opportunity to negotiate contract terms, including price, in response to competitive pressure in the marketplace Cover defined geographic area with permanent field presence Plan marketing actions by which the distributors achieve their targets Work closely with PCA’s/Field Reps by offering trainings, technical support and monitoring the applications of our products Identify and enhance relations with the technical staff of our customers Seek feedback from our customers, including feedback on product quality, product effectiveness, pricing, etc. Share this information with the General Manager and all members of the sales team and work to develop action plans based on such feedback Provide exceptional customer service, responding to distributor, PCA/Field Rep and customer inquiries and quotation requests in a timely manner Use the company CRM system to plan, update and manage all customer related activities to achieve the sales goals Conduct field trials with customers in different targeted crops to validate the use of our products Work closely with the General Manager to manage monthly inventory levels Draw up reports or protocols on product applications Attend seminars, trade shows, conferences, technical crop events and grower meetings, some of which may be out of the assigned territory Give talks, presentations and product training to various target audiences Work with other ASMs in sharing work and product knowledge Supervise, communicate and manage incidents related to our products Work closely with our R&D and Production departments on new products and modifications to existing products Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time   Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelor’s degree in agriculture/horticulture, crop science, soil science or equivalent experience/degree. Knowledge of plant nutrition, crop production, plants physiology and biochemistry is important Minimum three years related sales or crop production experience preferred Prior experience in agricultural products field representation desired, but not required Knowledge of local agricultural practices is preferred Excellent computer skills required. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Experience with Office 365 desired Strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills Must be positive, empathetic, resilient, highly ethical and have high energy Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license Must be fluent in English. Proficiency in Spanish highly valued.  Physical Demands: Ability to perform physical work Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. Visual acuity at close and medium distances Ability to support oneself in an erect position and sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time Ability to withstand repetitive motion of the body, specifically the hands and wrists Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel to customer sites and trade shows as needed. Work requires significant local travel with approximately 20-30% overnight travel, and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.  Relations: Position reports to the General Manager Direct internal relations: Technical Advisor and Logistics & Financial Administrator Direct external relations: Distributors, PCAs/Field Reps and our final customer; companies, growers, farmers, etc. Interact with other team members to increase market penetration
