PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Accountable for achieving profitable sales for all agronomy products sold to accounts in the assigned area.?
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assumes responsibility for sales of plant food to targeted customers within the assigned area by maintaining regular and ongoing contact with the customer?s designated purchasing/procurement personnel. Communicates market information, prices, and programs offered by GROWMARK and its various manufacturers/providers of products and services. Serves as the primary contact for all plant food related inquiries.
In conjunction with the appropriate marketing personnel, responsible for gross income generation within the Plant Food Division.
Responsible for implementing Plant Food Division strategies and programs, including the communication of customer supply plans and intents to the marketing team. Utilizes the appropriate internal tools to document customer demand forecasts.
Develops and implements marketing strategies and pursues new business opportunities within the assigned area that will result in increased market penetration for both member cooperatives and non-member accounts.
Maintains an analysis of the major competitors in the marketplace and provides market intelligence information to Plant Food Division personnel.? Develops and presents sales strategies to specifically target competitive approaches and pressures.
Assumes responsibility for all customer orders for division products and programs within the assigned area.
Achieves and maintains a high level of knowledge regarding regional agronomy marketers in the assigned area and assists in the acquisition of product, as requested by Plant Food Division marketing staff.
Participates in the development of the Plant Food Division objectives, goals, and operating policies.
Communicates with Regional Staff personnel regarding issues that arise in the assigned area.? Works with Regional Staff to minimize outside buying by member cooperatives.
Is responsible for discovering, reporting, and recommending appropriate action on customer complaints concerning products and services.? Seeks to settle issues in a prompt, fair and equitable manner.
Is responsible for executing the company?s credit policy, follows credit limits, and performs collections on past-due accounts.? Obtains credit information from customers as required and works directly with the Treasurers Division.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Assists in providing backup service to other Area Sales Managers as required and directed.
Follows GROWMARK?s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Normally requires a college degree in agronomy, ag economics, ag business, marketing, or the equivalent thereof, and 3 years or more of agronomy marketing related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of marketing leadership.
Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
Must have and maintain a valid driver?s license and satisfactory driving record.
Must have the ability to work extended hours as needed.
Must have the ability to travel independently and overnight.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK?s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
