Assistant Production Manager
Position: The Assistant Production Manager position is a development role that will support the Production Manager and work as a team member that strives for safety, product quality, and process optimization and is expected to get results through personal proficiency and modeling company values. This position carries a focus on soybean management and the responsibilities of making sure Legend Seeds has soybean production in place to cover the crop plan set forth by the sales teams, which in turn will lead to the success of Legend Seeds obtaining its sales goals. This position is responsible for making sure our soybean processors have the seed conditioned in time for distribution to Legend Dealers to distribute to their customer base. Inventory control is also important and will be the responsibility of the Soybean Manager to help reconcile inventory discrepancies and reconcile inventory at the end of the season.Job Duties:Develop and maintain contracts with production soybean growers and soybean processors.Reconcile year-end inventory and contract settlements for soybean growers and soybean processors.Track the production soybean process in its entirety.Obtain and maintain field maps.Work with growers to ensure they are in compliance with our programs.Assist in developing a Soybean Seed Management operating budget.Create a communication protocol for exchange of information with growers and Legend personnel. Update, maintain, track and communicate a calendar of events with important dates and deadlines. Establish and execute field inspections on all soybean production fields as required. Grade soybean samples when collected. Update and communicate soybean sample protocol (collection to submittal and quality assurance).Collect the trait purity testing from contracted growers.Monitor and track necessary planting reports, manage pre-harvest and harvest reports. Record all field progress of production fields and inspection reports.Assist with distribution of soybean inventory (including communication on non-saleable product and bulk pickup locations).Manage the soybean dump process and reconciliation for all inventory locations.Assure payments to Soybean Producers are accurate and timely.Assure quality products by developing and implementing training plan.Assure soybean processors have soybeans cleaned and packaged according to work orders.Manage soybean treatment work orders and communication.Assist with additional projects as needed and/or as assigned. Minimum Requirements: 4+ years of working knowledge in the agriculture industry with an emphasis on soybeans Work Location: This position will be at our corporate office in De Smet, SD.
