Assistant Production Manager – Maintenance
CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Processing and Food Ingredients division. We are looking for an Assistant Production Manager in our Maintenance department. In coordination with the Maintenance Manager, you will supervise all operations of the Maintenance department, in collaboration with the Operations Management team. You will:Schedule, supervise and delegate work assignments for Maintenance personnel, with emphasis on personal safety, food safety, sanitation, plant efficiencies and improving productivity. Help determine standards and monitor Maintenance department and all plant shops cleanliness.Maintain mechanical integrity of entire facility, develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures to reduce unplanned downtime. Determine root cause of equipment failures.Help supervise the orientation and training of Maintenance employees. Effectively communicate and maintain high standards of quality, cleanliness and food safety regarding current laws, regulations and CHS requirements.Maintain high employee morale to facilitate production efficiency and achieve all goals and expectations for the department.Cultivate and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Correct unsafe acts and conditions with the emphasis on developing a high-performance safety work culture. Perform department safety meetings, inspections and accident investigations.Maintain a good working knowledge of the union contract or work agreement to assure proper interpretation and administration.Be an active member of the Food Quality, Site Security, and HACCP/GMP teams. Maintain a highly effective relationship with EH&S department members.Recommend replacement or modification of existing plant equipment. Participate in long range planning and annual shutdown planning for the plant.Maintain effective communication with quality control, engineering, purchasing and all other plant departments to assure production objectives/results are met.Assure compliance with all divisional operating and safety procedures, including GMP, HACCP and Food Safety programs.Must be willing to work extra hours, weekends and be on call 24 hours/day as needed to keep the plant operations running efficiently.
Basic Qualifications: (required)Bachelor?s degree in relevant field including but not limited to Business, Operations Management, or Engineering (5 plus years of Vegetable Oil Refinery or Processing experience) in lieu of education5 plus years of experience to include:Plant construction and equipment to implement efficient operating proceduresSupervisory and/or Leadership experienceKnowledgeable of Federal, State, and Local food safety standardsPossess high level of mechanical abilities/aptitudeProficient in CMMS programs (e.g. Maximo)Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) Preferred Qualifications: (desired)5 plus years of experience in oilseed mechanical maintenance
