Assistant Yield Trial Manager

The purpose of this position is to support Midwest corn silage testing and regulated corn trial work. This rolewill work out of the Napier, IA station located on West side of Ames, IA and will be involved in planting, note taking, harvest and other field work in the Midwest; mainly in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and South Dakota. Planting processes include but not limited to setting up trials, packaging seed, preparing equipment and trucks for season as well as learning software used for research trials. Other work required but not limited to will include travel in the states mentioned to perform field work such as weed control, note taking, scouting for insects and disease as well as traits of the corn hybrids.
Work with regulated trials will require thorough understanding of ETS policies and ensure they are followed as well as implemented by other workers. The Assistant Yield Trial Manager will have 2-7 temporary employees to supervise in field at various times working closely with manager to focus on priorities and goals compliant with company goals. This position will be working with various equipment; particularly tractors, research planter and forage harvester. This position will require having or obtaining CDL license in order to move equipment to remote locations.This positionwill assist research trial manager and station manager in organizing and preparing for season such as inventory of necessary supplies and maintaining equipment.
BS in Ag or Ag related field or 5+ years ag research experience
CDL license or ability to obtain one; Certified Pesticide license for Iowa or ability to obtain one; able to work in team setting; able to work with Microsoft Office as well as other R&D programs; able to work with meticulous and detailed tasks with high level of competency and accuracy; able to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
BS in Ag or Ag related field
