Associate Buyer

Position Purpose The primary function of this position is to manage and execute tactical projects in conjunction with the strategy defined for the category that this position would support.
These activities include but are not limited to; supporting the strategic procurement process, execution of national, regional, and/or local agreements to include team-based bid processes, negotiations, supplier selection/development, contract management, and the timely and cost-effective procurement of direct and indirect materials and services for Procurement Center locations.Within an assigned procurement region, this position is responsible for managing and defining the procurement process of necessary contracts and agreements in a timely, economical, and efficient manner in order to meet manufacturing goals. Goals are met as defined by the individual?s personal performance plan, but could include implementing and maintaining effective relationships with current suppliers as well as developing new supply sources within their designated area. The Associate Buyer will coordinate activities with procurement, logistics, plant management, operations and maintenance, and accounting personnel to execute projects within their category.Principal Accountabilities60% Inform & implement sourcing strategies? Accountable for achieving individual tactical sourcing targets and goals? Coordinate day to day activities related to alignment and implementation of strategic sourcing activities. ? Establish and maintain on-going tracking metrics at the local level.? Provide leadership in driving projects to support a culture of innovation and continuous improvement? Focus on development of projects to promote workforce productivity and customer centricity? Identify and support continuous improvement project opportunities30%
Manage supplier events & relationships? In coordination with the Procurement Supervisor, select suppliers for procurement of non-contracted materials/goods, services and/or supplies which are considered non-leveraged, local spend (as defined by Strategic Sourcing policies) within established dollar limits, including:o Gathering and performing basic analysis of internal spend datao Gathering specifications/requirements from internal stakeholderso Researching unique and alternative supplier options o Collecting supplier bids and performing basic analysis of results o Negotiating less complex contract terms and conditions? Responsibility for relationship management for local suppliers with oversight from the Procurement Supervisor or Strategic Sourcing Category Manager.
Some discretion to develop and leverage existing local supplier partnerships.? Works with applicable plant/location staff to research and resolve less complex supplier issues; escalates significant issues to Procurement Supervisor or and/or Strategic Sourcing organization as appropriate.5% Provide procurement support & planning? With oversight from the Procurement Supervisor, work with plant/location staff to gather information and apply a general understanding of plant operations to provide general forecasting of short to medium term supply needs and ensure purchasing plan is aligned. ? Conduct research and analysis (e.g. internal/external data from traditional and non-traditional/non-structured data sources) requiring a basic understanding of operations and business requirements(e.g. marketing projections for existing products, production plans etc.) as well as sourcing environment (e.g. suppliers, cost drivers, market risk).? Act as subject matter expert on multi-functional, local project teams.5% Manage/execute procurement transaction processes? Ensure requests are processed for procurement of materials/goods, services and/or supplies for local use from various plant/location staff or a procurement/inventory management system (e.g. SAP) for nondiscretionary, contracted spend, such as stock replenishment or planned spend.? Use discretion to procure requests for new materials/goods, services and/or supplies for local use from existing supplier contracts and within established, moderate dollar limits.? Delegate administrative duties to support staff as appropriate (e.g. processing procurement requests and preparing purchase orders, scheduling/expediting/confirming delivery, coordinating return of rejected items etc.).? Identify short to medium-term supply chain issues and works with plant/location staff to define and implement solutions.Relocation will not be provided for this position.Skills:
Required Qualifications? Bachelor?s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance or related degree program and 1+ years of related work experience OR a High School Diploma 5+ years of procurement experience.? Experience in Microsoft Suite -Word, Excel and PowerPointPreferred Qualifications? Project Management experience? SAP Systems experience ? Manufacturing or Logistics experience ? Category management experience (Logistics, Ingredients, Packaging, etc.)? Experience negotiating with suppliers ? Comprehensive knowledge of advanced principles, concepts and practices in following areas: procurement, computer based inventory systems and manufacturing operationsSuccess Factors ? Strong analytical and problem solving skills ? Ability to think strategically and build relationships with internal and external customers ? Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills ? Proven business and financial acumen
