We currently have a position available at our Plant Sciences Building in Boise, ID.
Boises mild climate, affordable housing, and vibrant downtown add up to a great place to live. SUMMARYSupports the transformation effort aimed at improving the agronomic performance of potato and, potentially, other crops through biotechnology. Has a high level of technical efficiency and displays technical excellence in transformation methods. Works in conjunction with their team to set up and carry out experiments. Troubleshoots, summarizes, and reports results. Optimizes existing methods and rapidly adapts new methods. Involved in multiple projects simultaneously and has a good understanding of the theoretical basis of these and related projects. RESPONSIBILITIES* Propagate plant stock material, perform explant transfers, participate in proof-of-concept and commercial production transformations, record, document and present data. * Write detailed standard operating procedures and protocols, interpret, analyze and summarize experimental data. * Conduct transformation experiments independently with minimal supervision and develop, optimize and improve transformation methods and protocols. * Perform lab procedures following standard operating procedures, sterile techniques and practices. * Prepare plant tissue chemical stocks and plant tissue media.
REQUIREMENTS* Bachelors Degree with 3 years of experience OR Masters Degree in a relevant scientific field. * Knowledge of plant cell and tissue culture. * Molecular biology knowledge. Strong analytical ability. * Ability to work and enjoy a team-based environment. * Ability to use a microscope. * Dedication and sincere interest in plant biotechnology.
