Automation Engineer Co-op – #01RT7
Monsanto???s Automation Engineering team will begin installing a system to automate production within the Whitestown Seed Center (WSC) in the summer of 2019. The individual will work with the WSC System Support Team, other groups within Automation Engineering, and outside contractors to ensure the effectiveness of the system being installed. With a focus on support and improvement, the intern will work to identify impediments to system efficacy and develop strategies to ensure the sustainability of the automated system in the future.The individual will assist the System Support Team in the execution of tasks associated with the conversion of the WSC to an automated production facility. The successful candidate will work in a hands-on environment assisting engineers, technicians, and other team members in the installation, testing, and modification of equipment.Dates for this fall co-op are June 17-December 6 of 2019.Responsibilities:?? Participate in the deployment, integration, and testing of custom automated equipment (industrial robots, conveyor, AS/RS systems, PLCs).?? On a team with engineers and technicians, jump in and ???get your hands dirty??? in working on the installation, set-up, adjustment, and testing of system components.?? Document issues that arise, identify root causes, and review details with the team or responsible parties in a timely manner to ensure completion of assigned tasks.?? Review specifications and plans, execute tasks accordingly, and provide feedback to the team as necessary or appropriate.?? Make recommendations and/or develop strategies, based on experience and observations, to support and maintain equipment being installed.?? Maintain awareness of potential hazards and comply with safety rules and regulations while working in a fast-paced environment, in close proximity to automation. Qualifications:Required Skills/Experience:Pursuing engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution ??? electrical, mechanical, or industrial disciplines preferred.Strong computer skills, especially related to design and data analysis.Effective oral and written communications skills. Ability to interact with team members at all levels in a professional manner, contribute ideas, and seek resolution to issues that may arise.Demonstrated problem solving, planning, and time management skills.Capability to learn quickly and a willingness to ask questions.Preferred Skills/Experience:Experience or familiarity with controls and automation.Proficiency in the creation of technical documentation.SolidWorks experience.Apply for this job.
