Automation & Process Control Operations Support Engineer
DuPont Pioneer, a world leader in agricultural genetics, has an opportunity in our Engineering organization for an experienced A&PC Operations Support Engineer at our Johnston, Iowa corporate office.
The A&PC Engineer will have responsibility as a member of the A&PC support team for the DuPont Pioneer North America Region. Duties will include: prioritize and execute the Process Control Environment (PCE) strategy by working with a cross functional group of Engineers and IT resources, participating in DuPont A&PC compliance programs, working with vendor support resources, assessing site automation resources, site documentation program for Automation infrastructure, ensuring compliance with the MOC process for automation, automation projects as needed at production locations, Develop site infrastructure improvement plans for automation in NA and help consult/guide other regions in the same effort. This position will report to the A&PC Operations Support Manager – DuPont Pioneer.
The A&PC Engineering support group at DuPont Pioneer manages the support of electrical, controls and MES systems used in the operation of the diverse group of mechanical, electrical, and chemical processes involved in the production of agricultural seed products. These processes include bulk material handling, mechanical processing, seed drying, cleaning and sizing, chemical seed treating, packaging, product integrity management, process quality data capture, and the vertical integration of business information (ERP) directly to and from production operations. The control systems used in our processes includes the Allen Bradley family of processors, the Rockwell Automation suite of software products, the Apriso MES software platform and a wide variety of instrumentation and final control elements, VFD???s, robotics, vision systems, sensor devices, etc. Typical information systems involved include: Process Control Network (PCN), servers, VM???s, firewalls, Cisco switches, security, version control, IP address management, and disaster recovery.Qualifications:The minimum requirements for this position include a Bachelors degree (or equivalent work experience) in an Engineering or an Information Systems discipline.
Additional job requirements include a minimum of 5 years previous work experience in either a process control system design and implementation role, or an information systems administration. Also preferred is a working knowledge of IT infrastructure including switches, VMs, operating systems, and firewalls. Some travel, and ongoing training is required to maintain a current working knowledge of the state-of-the-art in automation and process control, electrical systems and technology.
