Barge Fleet Mate
Summary of Position:
Employee will be required to coordinate with the dispatch office on specific daily needs as well as perform regular daily inspections and maintenance within the barge fleet. Employee will be expected to work on average 8 to 10 hour days and additional weekends during high water or busy times of the year. Employee would need to be able to work well in a two man team as well as work without supervision. Employee needs to be able to physically move around barge rigging.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collecting boat logs and turning them in to dispatch by an agreed upon date. *
Delivery of supplies to the fleet boats or dock where the boats can access supplies. *
Inspect all anchor chains and dead man blocks weekly. *
Inspect spar/block barges for issues and pump out water if necessary. *
Inspect new barges in the fleet for leaks or damage upon arrival. *
Repair or replace marker buoys, shore wires, stern lines, buoy cables, barge ties. *
Apply safety lines to barge ties where necessary. *
Take a weekly count of all rigging items in inventory and turn in to dispatch. Inventory must be organized and accessible at all times. *
Coordinate with other fleets when in need of assistance with moving rigging within the fleet.
