Potential assignments may include, but are not limited to: work within safety, stevedoring and separation building, safety inspections, leading safety meetings, enforcing safety procedures, ensuring all operations and equipment are safely used, installed and stowed properly. The ideal candidate will be able to: lift at least 50 pounds; work at various heights; sit, stand, kneel, crawl, and bend in various conditions; work in hot, cold or dusty conditions; and provide high-quality customer service.Safety, Stevedoring, Separation building
Hold a safety tool box meeting with other members of his Crew.Inspect with the crew all tools, lifting straps needed for the task.Inspect the equipment being used for the lifting including the certification of the crane for accuracy and compliance. If using the vessel cranes meet with the Captain or Chief Officer for the authorization to use the crane and check for its? certification.Instruct the crew and assist in moving all materials, tools, and equipment to the separation material staging area. Contact the Stevedore Leadperson, review assignment(s).Inspect the hold(s) for any material abnormalities such as rain seals, hatch cover openings, check crane clearances, etc.Check the loaded hold or loading of the hold for irregularities in the laid grain for tractor placement.Meet with tractor driver as to develop the plan to safely enter the hold, placement of the tractor, communications (hand signals or radios), personal protective gear and devices.Direct the crew members when lifting materials into the hold.
Direct the outside contractor?s used to build the separation, preform a head count of the contractor?s personnel, and discuss evacuation procedures. Upon completion of the separation inspect the separation with the Contractor Supervisor for quality assurances and make needed corrections to ensure separation compliance for performance.Notify the Stevedore Lead person the separation has been successfully completed.Instruct and assist the crew in returning equipment to the warehouse area. Report to the Stevedore leadperson for further assignments.Return to regular schedule unless otherwise instructed by the Management.
Preparation of materials for separations at the shopInspect the crane barge Century and assist in the maintenance of
the bargeMonitor workers and their area for unsafe areas or acts.Participate in safety activities including evacuation drills and head counts.Be certified in the operation of both friction and hydraulic cranesBe able to operate heavy equipment including bulldozers, forklifts, and commercial trucks.Administer ADM policies and Procedures . Relocation assistance is not available with this position.
