Twenty years from now, the earth???s population will need 55% more food than it can produce now.  Today, Monsanto is working with farmers around the world to do something about it.  In over 60 countries, Monsanto has established industry-leading products because we give professionals the freedom to make real decisions.  Monsanto is an Employer Of Choice with an outstanding professional development program and a history of building careers.   Make an impact by joining the team that is working to solve one of mankind???s greatest challenges.Monsanto???s Ag Productivity Innovation team is seeking a highly motivated, independent individual to work as a Research Assistant for the Bee Health platform located in Chesterfield, MO.  The Bee Health platform utilizes cutting edge technology such as BioDirectTM to develop effective solutions to improve honey bee health and enhance beekeeper operations.  The Research Assistant will assist in all phases of controlled environment and field testing programs to develop effective Varroa control products using BioDirectTM.  This role will be focused mostly on routine laboratory and field work.  Future responsibilities will include support of discovery efforts towards identifying second generation technologies for Varroa control, BioDirect antiviral efficacy and enhancing bee health.    Responsibilities:Controlled environment bee health experiments Molecular analysis using general molecular biology analytical methods, such as RNA extraction, Northern blot, and Western blotMaintenance of an experimental apiary Field trial support, including logistics; shipping, receiving and processing of field trials samples and materials; data entry; and trial monitoringQualifications:Required Education and Skills/Experience:Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Entomology or related Life Science fieldAcademic or industry experience with at least one of the following general molecular biology analytical methods: RNA Extraction or DNA ExtractionNorthern BlotWestern BlotWillingness and ability to work with bees both in field and lab conditions Ability to work in field conditions and endure moderate physical effortAbility to work with and effectively support teams in a dynamic discovery and early development environment Demonstrated ability for effective written and oral communicationPossess a high degree of organization and strong results orientationAbility to work effectively on interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, results-driven environmentDesired Education and Skills/Experience:Master's Degree in Biology, Entomology, or related Life Science fieldFamiliarity with beekeeping practices and bee biologyPrior experience working for a global organizationHigher industry experience in agricultureWho is Monsanto?
