San Diego, CAWhere the Chemistry HappensWe are seeking a talented professional like you to support the development of industrial enzyme downstream processes from laboratory scale to commercial scale (50,000L plus). You will work in a dynamic, cross-functional team to design scalable recovery processes, transfer processes to Pilot Plant and commercial scale, and employ continuous improvement strategies to enhance productivity, reduce cost of goods, and troubleshoot manufacturing issues as they arise. This position offers the opportunity to work in a global multidisciplinary team in a challenging and dynamic environment.Formula for Success Your commitment to workplace health and safety will be essential as you maintain 100% compliance with and demonstrated leadership of EH&S policies and procedures.Leveraging your education in Life Sciences or Engineering combined with your relevant industrial experience, you will develop downstream recovery processes for recombinant proteins including enzymes, expressed in bacterial and fungal hosts, in collaboration with fermentation subject matter experts and downstream process engineering leadership.As a subject matter expert, you will prepare operational SOPs and the training of team members on these SOPs.Applying your operational and technical expertise to downstream process development activities in the San Diego Pilot Plant and in R&D, you will identify and evaluate new technologies for downstream processing of industrial enzymes.Demonstrating your strong technical background and direct hands-on experience with pilot and/or commercial scale downstream processing unit operations such as continuous centrifugation, tangential flow filtration and normal flow filtration, you will pilot-scale (30-500L) the development of scale-relevant unit operations such as microfiltration, ultrafiltration, depth filtration, and continuous centrifugation.Relying on your technical knowledge and problem-solving ability, you will provide troubleshooting support for commercial manufacturing operations and perform continuous improvement studies for existing commercial processes.Working within multidisciplinary project teams which include EH&S, Research, Quality, Regulatory, Engineering and Manufacturing teams, you will design and execute downstream process optimization campaigns, interpret data, and work with other team members to integrate results into process designs and overall project plans.Your ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously will be a valued asset as you meet timelines for multiple projects that may be at different stages of Process Development.Your proficiency in Microsoft office applications and excellent oral and written communication skills will be vital as you prepare and present technical reports, data summaries, protocols and other technical and regulatory documentation.
