The successful candidate will work closely with the Vice President of Business Development and Alliances. She/he will be co-located in the US HQ and work closely with the Commercial Business leadership team, and partner with multiple cross-regional functions including Legal, Finance, Manufacturing, Research and Development, and Commercial Development and Life Cycle management (CDLCM). The role will require approximately 25% travel. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will lead a matrix team of colleagues in executing a range of business development transactions including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, licensing deals, distribution agreements, and research collaborations to fill global and regional portfolio gaps. In addition, the successful candidate may work closely with commercial alliances to support product growth strategies and develop future animal health markets. Partnerships will be established with other industry sectors, academia and government with a focus on addressing areas of common strategic interest impacting the veterinary profession and animal health industry. Preferred ExperienceBusiness AcumenThe Business Development Lead will have experience driving business growth and enterprise value creation within an entrepreneurial organization. This person will utilize a detailed understanding of financial valuation with in healthcare industry fundamentals, trends, and critical value drivers to transform the market. S/he will possess the ability to further develop and make recommendations that provide fresh, innovative insight into marketplace opportunities; Executing for ResultsThe ideal candidate will have transaction experience in all stages of deal making from Evaluation through due diligence and execution. This individual will be results-oriented, with the capacity to follow through on pragmatic plans and ensure alignment of interests through effective communication. S/he will have a strong desire to meet and exceed goals, even under adverse circumstances, and is willing to take ownership of issues and make decisions to move forward.. Building Relationships and Using InfluenceThe qualified candidate must lead multi-functional teams to drive go/no-go decisions on BD opportunities using fact-based approaches. S/he will work seamlessly and build relationships with the other functions in the organization. The successful candidate will have a strong ability to collaborate with external partners, organizations, agencies, and individuals. Therefore, the successful candidate must have excellent skills with influencing outcomes and shaping and catalyzing dialogue across and outside the organization. QualificationsBachelors Degree preferred10+ years of experience in Business Development strongly preferredStrong Awareness of Financial Valuation Models and Legal contracts as they relate to business collaborations and transactions.
