CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Processing and Food Ingredients (PFI) group. We are looking for a Buyer to be responsible for the day-to-day purchasing operations for non-commodity goods and services for plants and facilities. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, analytical skills and be able to develop and maintain business relationships while working independently with little supervision.
You will: Perform day-to-day management of internal customer requirements which includes, but not limited to, requisitions, purchase orders, delivery schedules, supplier follow-up and system support.Source suppliers, distribute bids, develop bid tabs and procure materials, equipment and services to support operations, maintenance, engineering and capital projects.Develop and maintain professional partnerships with suppliers and contractors to insure open communication and proper business relationships as defined by CHS and legal requirements.Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to insure that all materials and services are completed in accordance with the terms of the purchase order. Manage supplier and contractor communication, purchase order acknowledgements and resolve discrepancies, as appropriate.Perform problem resolution concerning issues with purchase order process and provide appropriate follow up communication to internal customers.Collaborate with AP and requestors to reconcile supplier invoice issues and monthly reporting.Compile material required for Request for Quote (RFQ) packages for all departments in PFI division. Complete information for vendor/price evaluation.Coordinate monthly blanket purchases with plants.Issue supplier scorecards based on established KPIs.Review and approve requisitions for PFI plants on inventory, service and material items as needed.Special projects assisting purchasing manager as needed.Analyze data of items purchased, costs, and product performance for group and supplier reviews.Drive effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, peers and management.Consistently strive for gains in efficiency with continued process improvement initiatives.Partner with CHS Strategic Sourcing to identify synergies to leverage spend across locations.Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.Basic Qualifications: (required)Bachelor?s degree3 plus years of purchasing experienceAdvanced skills in MS Excel and WordWork extended hours as needed to meet business needsAbility to travel 5-10% Preferred Qualifications: (desired)Purchase experience in a process or industrial environmentSAP and BI tools or Ariba experienceKnowledge of Maximo
