Buyer (FG – West Memphis, AR)

These endeavors have been around for centuries and will continue to be a vital part of the global economy. We currently have a Buyer position available at our Food Group location in West Memphis, AR.
Summary This position exists to ensure raw ingredients, packaging materials, and all necessary supplies needed to support production/maintenance are purchased in a cost efficient and timely manner. A strong ability to correlate pack needs to production schedule needs and identify scheduling errors affecting inventory is necessary to be successful. The person in this position will be responsible for working closely with the production and warehouse departments ensuring that proper inventory levels are maintained by utilizing various reports, planning tools, and developing relationships with suppliers and transportation. This position is required to assure on time deliveries and customer satisfaction.
Analyze and manage inventory levels, allergen constraints, equipment constraints, any possible aging ingredients that need to be scheduled before they become aged, write deviations and route for approval, plant capacities, forecasted demand, and sales requirements to develop a rough intermediate production schedule (13 weeks). Support new product introductions from product development, planning, test runs, and first production runs.
Responsible for working with FGHQ Planner Scheduler to coordinate schedule needs to production and inventory needs and recommend adjustments accordingly.
Supervise, direct, and coordinate activities of all Stockroom Attendants.
Responsible for supporting materials plans (MRP), and capacity plans where necessary for all plant manufacturing and purchasing requirements over short (13 week) process.
Coordinate inbound orders with transportation.
Support current warehouse inventories in food goods, ingredients, and packaging supplies.
Analyzes and selects suppliers, issues and reviews purchase orders; orders inventory replacement items and goods/services as requested by authorized personnel, follows up and expedites as necessary.
Responsible for monitoring inventory levels and for purchasing supplies or items (including MRO) to replenish those inventory levels. Will order goods and services per requisitions supplies by authorized requestors through the process at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source, and urgency of need.
Responsible for working with vendors and suppliers on a daily basis and maintaining contracts and ensuring the company is paying the correct price for each item it is purchasing.
Bachelor's Degree from 4 year college or university.
Three plus years related experience and/or training.
Excellent analytical and communication skills and will demonstrate a positive attitude in cooperation with working as a team.
Must possess or be willing to earn a CPM/CPIM certification within one year of taking the position.
Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered for this position.
