SUMMARY:This position is responsible for developing purchasing programs and strategies for a wide-breadth of cross-functional areas which will maximize the value for the company of items purchased. The manager will be responsible for developing and maturing Tyson/Supplier relationships to insure targeted departmental and company objectives are met. This position will identify and reproduce “best practices” between Business Units and plants pertaining to materials control and purchasing procedures. Duties of the position will include frequent steering meetings to measure and discuss supplier performance relative to Tyson's performance expectation; developing Continuous Improvement strategies for the responsible categories and directing resources relating to project management; executing strategies that will develop the supplier-Tyson relationship, while continuously fostering this model to support proactive technology and innovation ideas that will ensure the competitiveness of Tyson in the marketplace. This position will also be responsible for measuring and reporting category savings on a quarterly basis. This will include a savings analysis compared to established goals and objectives for the category. This position will be responsible for monitoring commodity market activity and conditions to determine overall strategy to eliminate the cost impact to the Tyson Foods Company.
