Responsible to: NCBA Officers and Executive CommitteeReports through: NCBA President General Responsibilities:Provides the overall staff leadership for the oldest and largest association of cattlemen and beef producers in the United States. NCBA s mission is to improve the business climate for beef production and grow global beef demand, as the trusted leader and definitive voice of the beef industry. Specific Responsibilities:Builds and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and others that impact the beef industry, Provides leadership to staff for implementation of NCBA s policy priorities and checkoff programs. Responsible for the overall development and implementation of annual divisional budgets as approved by the Officers, Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Works with Officers and staff to develop implement NCBA s Strategic Plan in support of Industry Long Range Plan. PERSONNEL LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENTProvides a strong leadership and management climate throughout the association and delegates responsibility and appropriate authority to employees.Directs the hiring/dismissal, training and annual performance assessment of all employees.Directs the administration of the wage, salary and benefit programs for all employees.Establishes and maintains transparency and accountability across the Association. RELATIONSHIPSMaintains frequent and thorough communication with the Officers, Executive Committee, Board of Directors and committee leadership.Establishes relationships with members, state affiliates and beef councils,Federation of State Beef Councils, Product Council, Allied Industry Council other important stakeholders and keeps abreast of their input and concerns while providing them with vision and critical information needed to implement programs and policies.Fosters a positive and productive relationship between NCBA and appropriate national and state beef and cattle related organizations, the agricultural industry, key non-agricultural industry stakeholders and the consumer and industry trade media. PLANNING/OPERATIONS/ADMINISTRATIONEnsures that the operations of the association are in accordance with the by-laws and articles of incorporation, and recommends changes to the by-laws when necessary.Ensures the annual NCBA Strategic Plan is implemented.Develops internal operating policies and procedures as needed. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENTProtects the financial assets and fiscal integrity of the National Cattlemen s Beef Association, while expanding the revenue base and controlling expenses.Provides timely and appropriate financial reports to Officers, Executive Committee and Board of Directors.Assures that all approved contractual agreements between the association and outside persons or agencies are legally and financially sound and that satisfactory performance of the services specified is achieved. PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICSExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with NCBA producer leadership and a diverse group of stakeholders.An enthusiastic self-starter with a results-oriented mentality.Ability to envision and articulate new opportunities for the association and industry.An experienced and persuasive spokesperson with strong written and oral communications skills.Leadership and management skills with the ability to develop, lead and motivate a positive and committed team.Skilled at consensus building.·Must possess high integrity, ethics and values.·Must have a passion for the beef industry.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEA bachelor s degree is required, preferably in agriculture or agri-business. An advanced degree may be beneficial, but not required.Agricultural, livestock, or beef industry background is strongly preferred.Experience in association management is highly desirable.Strategic planning, budget development, personnel and financial management experience is essential.Apply for this job.
