SUMMARYThis position will work in the Cold Room and Day Room area, operating a forklift, performing all bulk handling duties, and printing tickets through the useof the inventory control system to ensure that product quality meets customer expectations.NATURE AND SCOPETheCold Room Laborer is a member of the packaging team which consists of FrozenInspectors, Cold Room Laborers, Palletizers, Palletizing Attendants, ProductionLift Truck Operators, Packaging Operators, Packaging Area Coordinators andPackaging Mechanics. The individual in this position is accountable to theirassigned Packaging Supervisor and Shift Manager.The Cold Room Laborer, with direction from a Packaging Area Coordinator, willwork as a team member with other area personnel to support shift goals in thepackaging of finished product. Task include, but are not limited to: operatinga fork lift to handle all bulk product and materials related to work area;scanning, creating or reworking bulk tickets; cleaning food contact surfaces,floors, framework and the environment of the assigned work area; fullyunderstanding the purpose and operation of the Cold and Day Room Areas andmaking decisions based on sound judgment as a situation may dictate. The individual in this position will accomplish these tasks by utilizing a teamconcept through working with other area personnel members and followingdirections and instructions from Area Coordinators, Packaging Supervisor, ShiftManager or other members of management. This position, along with all packagingteam members, will support shift goals in the packaging of product, whichincludes meeting quality standards, meeting required packaging volumes and maintainingthe packaging area. It is imperative that an individual in this positionconduct him/herself in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awarenessof team members and safety during the operation of equipment and at all othertimes. Positive work relationships and written and verbal communications arekey for success of the individual holding this position. Overtime requirements in this position are common and may be required to meetoperational goals.
Mustbe able to complete training on the safe operation of the fork lift andsuccessfully pass and maintain the certification test requirements. Thistraining and certification is a requirement in accordance with both WAC296-307-52003 and WAC 296-307-52029.
Ensuresproper handling of bulk product including dumping (blending) and filling totes,and ensures preparation of totes to be dumped (blended) or filled.
Ensuresthat the Cold Room and Day Room are cleaned and stocked with the propersupplies in a safe, timely and skillful manner in order to meet operationalstandards.
Ensuressafe and proper operation of the tote dump.
Assistswith changing grader screens as needed.
Ensuresproper inspection of Lift Truck.
Ensuresproper ticketing and rework of tickets in a timely manner
Ensuresthat chemicals are handled and used safely and efficiently.
Performsall functions of the stripping duties as needed.
Performsall functions of assigned hand pack duties.
Ensuresthat cleanup duties are performed in a food safe manner which meets Companystandards.
Ensuresknowledge of equipment and able to turn equipment on and off while employingequipment lockout/tagout procedures as needed.
Ensuresthat attendance and participation in training activities are appropriate forthe position, and the acquired skills and knowledge are applied.
Ensuresthere is no injury to self or others by following safe work practices,procedures (including Standard Operating Procedures), and policies.
Ensuresself-compliance with Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and theUnion Labor Agreement.

Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in a manner tosuccessfully perform the job duties.

Must be able to use up to 50 pounds of push/pull force needed topush/pull barrels weighing up to 450 lbs using a rolling device
Must be able to maneuver in close quarters and climb stairs andladders.
Must be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods oftime.
Must be able to work in extreme environments: hot or coldtemperatures and wet and slick floors.
Must be able to work with and around hazardous chemicals wearingappropriate PPE, includes but no limited to, full wetsuit, boots, chemicalgloves and face shield or goggles.
