Collegiate Hosts – 2019 National FFA Convention and Expo

JOB SUMMARY: This is a volunteer opportunity occurring during the week of the National FFA Convention October 30 – November 2 in Indianapolis, IN. Travel expenses to and from convention will be covered as well as food and lodging.Responsible for hosting key sponsors and donors at National FFA convention. A team of seven to ten college students will work with high level corporate sponsors and donors to ensure they have a positive experience while attending National FFA convention. Duties might include but are not limited to: chauffeuring the to and from the airport; chaufering them to and from convention locations; providing tours of FFA convention facilities like the fairgrounds, the convention center, the fieldhouse and the stadium; explaining various CDEs; and accompanying them to FFA sessions.The ideal candidate would exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and have a sound understanding and knowledge base of the activities that happen at National FFA convention.Requirements:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Team player with the ability to work independently in a frequently changing environment.Excellent leadership, interpersonal, listening, and verbal communication skills.Interact and work with a diverse group of internal/external people.Provide excellent customer service to internal and/or external customers.Effectively prioritize, organize, use time-management skills, and be adept at multi-tasking.Confident in making decisions, accurate, detailed-oriented, and able to problem solve/analyze.Make and receive phone calls.Confident in speaking in front of small and large groups.Maintain flexibility and professionalism when dealing with changing or shifting schedules.Energetic, self-starter.Other duties as assigned.EDUCATION:High school diploma requiredSome college preferredEXPERIENCE:FFA experience requiredState FFA officer experience preferredKnowledge of the agricultural industry or agricultural education a plus.Experience with youth-based and/or alumni membership organizations a plus.
