COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION ASSOCIATE I The Commercial Production Associate supports Arcadia’s field operations by coordinating resources, equipment, tools, personnel and third-party services to execute and complete research field trial protocols and commercial seed/grain production projects. This is a regular full-time position. Salary based upon experience. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSParticipate in and/or lead activities related to the field preparation and setup, field inspections and mapping, planting, irrigation, crop monitoring and harvesting of Arcadia research field trials, breeder/foundation seed increase and commercial seed or grain production.Participates in plant operations such as conditioning, packaging, warehouse / inventory management /distribution, carryover, etc.Communicate effectively with growers, service providers and others in the establishment and efficient operation of all assigned Arcadia projects. Ensures growers adhere to industry standards, best practices and contractual obligations. Conducts grower evaluations as needed. Act as field scout for future seed and grain production.Routinely operate agricultural equipment such as tractors, sprayers, harvesters, grain trucks, cultivators, forklifts, hand-tools, etc. to complete planting, field maintenance and harvesting activities. Execute minor repair work on equipment as needed.Set up, maintain and operate irrigation and other maintenance equipment on established or predetermined schedules.Conduct field monitoring activities to include data and measurement collection, recording and reporting.Perform regular field evaluations for agronomic, pest, weeds, disease or other biotic/abiotic stress issues; recommend and execute appropriate solutions.Supports compliance with Arcadia Quality Management procedures and policies and site specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Hire and supervise seasonal personnel for the timely operation of all field and facility activities.Develops influencing skills through motivation, recognition, leadership, and developmentPractices safe work habits at all times per Arcadia’s established safety program. Champions Arcadia’s safety program and models appropriate behavior for others.Ensures proper maintenance for all Arcadia sites, equipment and vehicles. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITITIESFundamental understanding of crop management, agronomic techniques and seed / grain production.Familiarity with various plant and seed crops desired; knowledge of wheat a plus.Basic understanding of seed physiology, production, cleaning and storage techniques preferred.Basic understanding of agronomy, plant genetics and/or plant breeding techniques is highly desirable.Flexibility to work longer hours (including weekends) to meet seasonal deadlines.A valid driver’s license is required, and an ability to obtain a CDL is a must. Pesticide applicator’s license will be required.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. Good written & oral communication skills.Ability to clearly present information and influence or persuade others through oral or written communications.Ability to make decisions and solve problems while developing situational judgment. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agronomy, Crop & Soil Science, Ag Busines, Technology, Engineering or related field with 0-2 years’ directly related work experience.
