Computational Biology Intern

The Computational Genomics and Bioinformatics Systems group at DuPont Pioneer is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student for a 3 to 6 month internship program in the field of computational biology and bioinformatics. This internship is designed to provide experiences into the exploration of genomes with next-generation sequencing while helping advance internal data analysis needs. The intern will design new or improve upon existing analytic pipelines using IM best practices, and aid in deriving biologically meaningful conclusions from their analyses. The intern will be expected to present the results of their research at the completion of the internship program.The position will be a 3 month position during the first semester of 2017 with the possibility of extension to a 6 month internship. The intern will be involved with large datasets for genomic research, bioinformatics, Linux scripting and high-performance computing. The intern will work closely with scientist working with bioinformatics, molecular biology and biotechnology. Qualifications:College Junior standing or above, including recent graduates majoring in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Genetics, Biostatistics or a related field. Graduate students in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology are encouraged to apply. Individuals must have an understanding of basic level molecular & cell biology and working knowledge of Linux command-line & shell scripting as well as experience with one of Python, C or C++. The intern must be a self-motivated individual with the ability to work well in a dynamic team and a desire for learning. Strong computing skills and an aptitude for scientific discovery are essential.Apply for this job.
