Controlled Environment Lead – #01PO3
We are currently looking for a highly motivated and dynamic Controlled Environment Lead. As a member of our multidisciplinary Trait Delivery team, this position will be overseeing the operations of our controlled environment resources that support global Biotechnology, Ag Productivity Innovations, Regulatory and Breeding pipelines. These resources enable and drive the development of our integrated solutions across traits, chemistry and germplasm. This position is part of a team that is maintaining world class operations within the cutting edge controlled environment facilities, and will drive new innovations and efficiency in processes to enable Technology plant growth needs of the future. Responsibilities include:Leading Chesterfield and Jerseyville Controlled Environment operations and production teams supporting our Technology organization, ensuring reliable, quality, and timely generation of plants, seeds, and data. Communicating effectively and proactively in a fast-paced cross-functional, matrix environment to support advancement of product portfolios. Establishing team vision and strategy and interacting collaboratively across functions. Utilizing scientific knowledge to define and articulate technical problems and providing team leadership to address challenges while identifying opportunities to improve production operations. Leading platform to drive strategies, processes and systems that align with business needs and key deliverables through people management and development. Developing and evaluating new technologies related to controlled environments and directing team efforts for advancing development and technology programs. Planning and maintaining platform budget, LRP and project tracking. Building organizational capability by ensuring the team structure and accountabilities support the business needs. Providing leadership and training to ensure full compliance with Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) procedures, regulatory protocols and business conduct policies. Partnering with organizations across R&D to coordinate resources and controlled environment usage while supporting operations and innovation across our Technology organization Developing and leveraging KPI and ISO quality metrics that accurately reflect the effectiveness of the program while maintaining and improving existing operations through data driven decisions. Fostering an environment of inclusivity, engagement and collaboration through coaching and feedback. Translating change initiatives into working visions and strategies for the controlled environment platform. Qualifications:Required Skills/Experience:Minimum of Master???s degree in Agronomy, Horticulture or related field Minimum of ten or more years of plant production experience in industry and/or academia Minimum of five or more years of people leadership Experience in controlled environment operations Ability to lead through ambiguity and make decisions in an evolving environment Demonstrated ability to lead a team or lead through influence Ability to mentor and guide team of people leaders to meet shifting business needs Track-record of creatively defining key results and driving technical business solutions both independently and through cross-functional project teams Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral) with proven ability to convey complex ideas in a clear, precise and actionable manner to diverse teams at all levels of the organization Experience building consensus, negotiating and leading teams through influence while working with strict deadlines in a highly demanding and agile environment Demonstrated success developing comprehensive plans and delivering results through effective project leadership with ability to contingency plan and risk-adjust to meet timelines and deliver results Ability to travel independently (domestic and international) approximately 5% of the time Ability to motivate people leaders and successfully develop leaders with change resiliency Desired Skills/Experience: PhD in Agronomy, Horticulture or related field Knowledge of Plant Physiology and Nutrition Prior experience supervising people leaders Experience in seed production and/or field operations Bayer successfully completed the acquisition of Monsanto in June 2018, bringing together Monsanto???s leadership in seeds and plant traits with Bayer???s leadership in chemical and biological crop protection.
