Cotton Breeder – Georgia – Dawson, GA As a Cotton Breeder, you will serve as a thought leader, work with cutting edge technology, and biometrics in our Dawson, GA breeding site. You will lead a small breeding team and collaborate as part of a larger team. Formula for Success: You Will…The primary responsibilities of this role, Cotton Breeder, are to: • As part of the global breeding team, collaborate with digital breeding, breeders, and breeding management to lead, develop and execute a breeding program strategy to meet Eastern business goals. • Supervise breeding staff in terms of budgets and resource allocations in a manner that builds a strong, functional team, keeps projects with budget and on-time, and implements the seed business strategy. Will lead a breeding team consisting of an Assistant Breeder and a Technician. • Responsible for technical aspects in measuring and capitalizing on genetic gain • Communicates data and recommends lines for advancement, collaborates with the commercial breeding team on commercial variety recommendations. • Ensure compliance with all existing QHSE, QMS, Stewardship, and Regulatory standards. Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You… • PhD (degree in plant breeding, genetics, biology, or related field) with 4 years plant breeding experience; OR MS (degree in plant breeding, genetics, biology, or related field) with 8 years plant breeding experience. • Hands on knowledge of marker technology, biostatistics and genomic selection. • Market oriented with knowledge of varietal development from hybridization to Breeder seed increases. • Team player with a positive attitude. Can facilitate teamwork among colleagues and team members. • Ability to solve complex issues related to agronomic and breeding practices through proper experimental statistical designs and interpretation. • Ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneous. • Excellent organization skills, communication skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work in an independent and self-directed manner.
