Responsible for safe transloading of cargos and commodities. Operates traveling or stationary overhead crane to lift, move, and position loads, such as machinery, equipment, products, and solid or bulk materials, using hoisting attachments, such as hook, sling, electromagnet, grapples or bucket.Manipulates or depresses crane controls, such as pedals, levers, and buttons, to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions. Observes load hookup and determines safety of load.Cleans and maintains crane and hoisting mechanism.Inspects crane for defective parts and notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions.Basic preventative maintenance and care for cranes.Oversees deck crews and acts as a supervisor of the rig in absence of shift supervisor. Requirements:
Minimum of 100 supervised hours of operating a crane.Minimum of 80 hours of crane preventive maintenance training.Must have a thorough knowledge of rig operation and maintenance programs. Also of personnel safety observations associated with the same.Must have demonstrated ability to perform fully the practical operation of marine floating cranes, deck winches, capstans, anchor winches and all heavy equipment assigned to marine section.Must have basic understanding of cable standards.Proficient in equipment and deck operations.Must have demonstrated safe work practices, history, and leadership ability. Physical Demands:Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting. Will talk and hear to communicate. Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls and tools. May be required to lift, carry and move up to 25lbs. Will frequently work at heights, climb Ladders and stairways and work off of platforms. Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
