Job Title: Credit ManagerCompany: Gold Star Feed and Grain a division of J.D. Heiskell & CoPosition Location: Sangerfield, New YorkReports to: VP & General Manager, Gold Star Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. Responsibilities:Day to Day Management of the Gold Star Accounts ReceivableMaintain updated credit filesInterface with Sales and Traders to optimize sales while maintaining credit standardsWork with and through Sales to collect delinquent accounts as well as directly with customer.Manage all workout accounts engaging legal counsel as needed.Build and/or maintain positive business relationships with local lenders, CPA, consultants, and the Credit Managers of competitors.Support customers with credit analysis and bank packagesAccount ID Set-up: Assign customer ID to new accounts.  Maintain customer information as information is obtained.Establish Credit: Responsible for establishing credit within company guidelines on all new customers and periodic review of existing customers credit privileges.Receives credit application from Sales and customers.Contact customer for any needed information.Contact credit bureau and note exceptions.Contact references and note exceptions.Determine credit limit based on company standards for assets, profit, credit experience and references.Notify customer and appropriate internal staff of credit decision.Maintain credit files on each credit account.Enter and apply daily deposits: Oversee the data entry of the daily deposit and application of the daily deposit to each account appropriate open receivable.Returned Checks: Duties include processing of returned checks, contacting customer, and collection of replacement funds.Past Due Accounts:Review Aged Accounts Receivable reports for credit policy infractions.Contact past due accounts for proper payment.Follow established procedures for past due accounts collection.File Dairy Supply Feed Liens when necessary.Notify appropriate personnel of credit action and status changesPrepare account payment analysis on past due accounts.COD:  Coordinate payments and deliveries on COD accounts.Ongoing outreach to dairy customers at their farm to build relationships.Outside Collections: Liaison on delinquent account turned over to attorney and collection agency. Maintain a listing of accounts being handled by outside parties and report progress to supervisor monthly.Procedures: Assist in the development and modification of credit procedures to improve establishment of credit, collection of receivables, monitoring of customer balances, and reporting of credit activity.Reporting: Run and distribute Aged Balance Reports. Review accounts with supervisor every two weeks.Finance Charges: Review Mid and End of Month finance charges for incorrect, missing and erroneously assessed changes. Make correction to charges and update customer account to handle charges properly in the future.Affiliations: Maintain contacts and membership with organizations and associations that deal with credit. QUALIFIACTIONS   To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Knowledge of lien laws and other methods of obtaining security in the sates business is conducted. LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, financial statements and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, , and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Calculate and understand the significance of key financial ratios as relevant to dairy producers. REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule from. PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
