Crop Genome Engineering Intern
Corteva Agriscience, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont is looking for an innovative and highly motivated biology student for a 3-month Crop Genome Engineering Internship for the Summer of 2019. The successful candidate will be involved in projects to discover and test new molecular tools and tissue culture techniques to transform both monocots and dicots. An employee in this role will work as a team member on vector construction, agrobacterium transformation, sterile tissue culture techniques, and plant phenotype analysis. Depending on the progress of the intern, there may be additional opportunities to learn and apply concepts related to protein and DNA vector design. As a member of the Crop Genome Engineering ? New Technologies group you will have opportunities to do the following:Work on a multidisciplinary team of tissue culture, cell biology, and molecular biology professionals that are world leaders in plant transformation science. Develop an understanding of the plant transformation process from experimental design, through vector construction, and plant development. Learn and use various molecular biology and bioinformatic software and databases.Qualifications:Job QualificationsCollege Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Standing, or recent graduates.Bachelor degree in Biology, or related fieldMust have some experience in molecular biology, or genetics. Prior experience working on plant transformation, microscopy, data collection, and sterile techniques a plus. CompetenciesPrevious research experience preferred, but not required. Computer skills (Excel, Access, and electronic data collection) are a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary. Candidate should be able to work independently or with a team.
