Crop Insurance Agent / Risk Management Officer
AgStar is seeking a Crop Insurance Agent / Risk Management Officer in our Blue Earth, MN location. The individual’s primary responsibilities will be to focus on enhancing the grain and livestock segment of AgStar’s portfolio by promoting and marketing sound risk management products and services. This will include building, maintaining, and sharing expertise in crop insurance and livestock products/services and grain marketing; developing and implementing key sales tools and presentations; training and mentoring internal team members; and marketing directly to significant grain clients. The individual must have the ability to combine risk management and financial expertise in order to provide innovative and workable alternatives and solutions to meet the client’s goals. They may also identify prospective agencies. Successful candidates for this position will have:a Bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture, or related field; or equivalent work experience;current state insurance license to sell life and crop insurance;minimum of 3 years of experience in the agribusiness/farming industry, or similar experience in agricultural credit or closely related field;solid knowledge of crop insurance, grain marketing, finance, macroeconomics, and an understanding of, and ability to use, various computer business/financial applications;solid knowledge of farm production methods, farm products, and farm business management/finance;effective interpersonal, communication, client service and team skills;effective problem solving and decision-making skills;effective negotiating and effective selling skills;computer skills including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.) and other related accounting applications.AgStar, a leading financial services cooperative of the Farm Credit System, has been named one of the Top Workplaces of Minnesota through an employee survey conducted by the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
