Dairy Research Associate
The Dairy Research Associate is responsible for assisting in the execution of CPN US dairy research.
This role will plan and execute controlled research trials at our calf research center, other Cargill facilities, collaborating universities, and selected commercial facilities.
The Dairy Research Associate will ensure that trials are aligned to projects within our innovation pipeline and key customer needs to ensure we are leveraging research trial insights into new offerings and solutions for our customers.
This role will work with our innovation teams to develop yearly research and development plans to ensure we are delivering on timelines and achieving dairy research milestones.
Principal Accountabilities60% Responsible for protocol development (trial design, diet formulation, measurements) and trial summaries (statistical analysis, reports, presentations) for all research trials conducted at the Nurture Research center as well as commercial research locations.25% Assist to create and maintain strong link between research results and technical application through the commercial specie and internal formulation teams.15% Responsible for maintaining a 12-month R&D plan of dairy trials, aligned to projects and business priorities, that will be executed at our dairy Nurture Center as well as external locations.
The R&D plan will be developed in cooperation with the SMT Innovation Leader, Strategic Marketing Leader-Dairy, and Calf & Heifer Technical Specialists.Skills:
Bachelor?s Degree in animal science, nutrition, or related field or equivalent experience in research 1+ years? experience in research or commercial livestock operations.? Ability to travel to 15% within the U.S.Preferred Qualifications?
M.S. or Ph.D. in animal science, nutrition, or related field?
3+ years? experience in research?
2+ years? work experience in commercial dairy operations?
Solid understanding of approaches to dairy ration balancing and formulation and demonstrated experience with commercially available ration balancing software?
Demonstrated competence in experimental design and statistical analysis, including using SAS or R software?
Demonstrated ability to adapt sampling and laboratory procedures to meet research needs?
Record of scientific publication?
Research experience in multiple species.Abilities?
Demonstrated ability to work with multiple functional groups to align priorities to successfully execute projects?
Ability to communicate across diverse ranges of scientific backgrounds at an appropriate level.?
Good oral communication and very good written communication skills.?
Demonstrated ability in writing scientific communications.?
Comfortable and experienced with digital technologies?
