Non-Exempt Position Description: The Data Analyst position provides feedback and guidance to PMA and the Center for Growing Talent by PMA (CGTbyPMA) – a 20 million dollar global organization – on the success of the organization’s current value offerings, business plans, and strategies by mining and analyzing the organization’s customer data, financial metrics, value usage metrics (including digital content, social media, email campaigns, and events), member research and relevant industry data. This is a comprehensive role where the analyst will pivot from integrating and synthesizing data, to developing insights, and taking analysis further to make recommendations to lead change. This position serves as an internal expert for the entire organization and is responsible for communicating positive or negative movement towards goals throughout the year by using the appropriate data and logical reasoning so leaders can appropriately identify new opportunities for member engagement and areas of improvement, evaluate risks and make decisions to foster the growth of the organization. This position contributes to establishing a baseline from which to measure the success of the advancement of the organization’s strategic plan. Relationships: The Data Analyst reports directly to the Vice President of Research and Development and works closely with all departmental leads as well as senior leadership within PMA and CGTbyPMA. In particular, this position collaborates with the Digital Content Team, Member Relations, Member Value, Marketing and PR by improving overall data collection and analysis. Responsibilities: The data analyst provides business intelligence support to PMA and CGTbyPMA by continuously improving and managing a dash board of performance measurements as well as ad hoc reports to department leads so they can make better business decisions. These reports include historical data trend analysis, forecasts, business implications and predictive models to help identify business improvement opportunities. The position understands and interprets data to present conclusions and business implications in simple language using charts, graphs or spreadsheets so the organization’s leaders can easily understand the information. Initiatives will also include contributing to improving, implementing and cultivating a more formal data practice across the organization. Analytics (75%) Understand the strategic direction of PMA and CGTbyPMA so metrics reflects the priorities of the organization.Collaborate with business areas to define critical reporting needs, provide guidance regarding the availability of data, determine how best to get data, negotiate outcomes, set and manage expectations around delivery of results. (15%)Analyze, interpret and translate data on customer demographics, preferences, needs, usage patterns, buying habits and industry trends to identify business implications, potential markets, and factors affecting demand for PMA’s and CGTbyPMA’s value. (15%)Advise internal clients/senior management on how to best interpret research findings in order to personalize and increase usage of member value, define the best deliveries and refine the membership strategy, content strategy, events and messaging. (15%)Develop and maintain a dashboard of metrics that will allow management to gauge their success toward member engagement and strategic goals. (10%)Collaborate to develop and maintain a standardized, self-service reporting system ranging from corporate-level scorecard metrics down to the performance of programs and value using a combination of database and web technologies. (10%)Provide analysis of value accessed by individual members. (5%)Provide input into efficient data collection techniques for member data. (5%) Communications (20%) Clearly communicate and interpret metrics for PMA and CGTbyPMA.Prepare executive summaries, abstracts, and reports of findings, translating complex findings into written and oral delivery vehicles. Data management (5%) Technical ability to manage and manipulate PMA’s diverse data sets.
