Data Engineer – #01PUH
We are currently looking for a highly motivated Data Engineer. This role will be located in St. Louis, MO, reporting to the Information Asset Lead.Our Data Engineers help us unlock digital yield to ensure a stable food supply for generations to come. In this role, you will be a critical member of a full-stack data engineering team focused on creating distributed analysis capabilities around our enterprise datasets. Strength of ideas trumps position on an org chart.Qualifications: Required Skills/Experience:Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems Experience participating in the build and support of APIs using resource based design principles Minimum of 3 years of fluency in a JVM language such as Java or Scala, or demonstrated mastery of another language A level of comfort with SOLID software design principles and proven experience building non-trivial software systems Demonstrated experience with data architecture and modeling, including designing both logical and physical models for datasets Proficiency in working with relational databases such as Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, etc. Proven experience modeling large datasets in distributed databases such as Apache Cassandra Knowledge of at least one NoSQL database such as Neo4j, CouchDB, etc. Desired Skills/Experience:Experience with Platform-as-a-Service software such as Cloud Foundry or Kubernetes Demonstrated experience building cloud native applications in a public cloud such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure Experience contributing to open source projects Experience with stream processing, e.g. Kafka, Spark Streaming, Akka, Flink, etc. Knowledge of data science practices, to better steer our efforts to support them through the infrastructure we create We encourage you to share with us any and all public contributions you have made in the form of conference presentations, community forums (e.g. Stack Overflow, GitHub, etc.), or open source projects and code samples.About Us:Bayer successfully completed the acquisition of Monsanto in June 2018, bringing together Monsanto???s leadership in seeds and plant traits with Bayer???s leadership in chemical and biological crop protection.
