We currently have a Data Governance Lead position available at Simplot Headquarters in Boise, ID. SUMMARY The J.R. Simplot Company is transforming its digital capabilities by implementing a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. The new global ERP system will provide the foundation for creating common data definition and usage, standardized processes, and technology across the enterprise to create competitive advantage and strengthen the company's long-term presence in food and agriculture.
The Data Governance Lead will lead the strategic direction of the enterprise on all aspects of data governance, including master data management, metadata management, business rules, data origination, data quality, and data profiling and cleansing. The position will serve as the governance body for Simplot Master Data across all business units.
The role will serve as the point of escalation for governance and data quality issues working closely with Business and Functional area leadership to improve the quality and value of core data assets as well as support the strategic requirements of the organization. This position will have the opportunity to build and lead an enterprise data governance team and implementation roadmap including strategic priorities for development of information-based capabilities. This role will also be responsible for the development and execution of an enterprise-wide data governance framework with a focus on data quality and supporting the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behavior, governance metrics, processes and related tools. The role will partner closely with Business Unit and Functional leadership, IT Data Teams and end users to understand current state, define and execute a data strategy for the future while understanding downstream impacts.
RESPONSIBILITIES Establish and govern an Enterprise Data Governance Team and roadmap. Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company's principal information assets including: Ability to articulate a clear vision of transformation efforts and a sense of mission; Willingness to embrace and manage change and provide direction; Results orientation, willingness to commit to a direction and drive to completion; Demonstrated ability to manage adversity and challenging situations. 30%Create an engagement model with the business and IT to enable enterprise wide data decisions to be made consistently and with transparency driving an enterprise wide model. Understand the dimensions of quality and partner with key stakeholders to define data standards/definitions, data quality and data governance processes to apply appropriate metrics to measure the health of the data environment. Ability to use tools to analyze and report on data. 5%Define indicators of performance and quality metrics; publish and communicate impact via dashboard. Partner with the business and IT to validate accuracy and thoroughness of data process flows, hand offs, exceptions and approvals. 5%Collaborate with stake holders to gain insight and understanding of their current end-to-end data and metrics for success and develop a data plan to enable their optimal future state. Correlate information and develop data strategy & solution recommendation to meet business requirements. Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for defining enterprise wide data and protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning. 15%Resolve issues escalated from Business and Functional areas data governance representatives: Ability to manage senior relationships across all Business and Functional areas. Ability to develop cooperative and constructive working relationships. Ability to handle competing business priorities, settle disputes and resolve conflicts and negotiate with others. Collaborative team player with the ability to build trusted work relationships, and strong culture awareness. 15%Highly developed skills in priority setting and alignment of project priorities with Departmental strategy. Ability to break down complex problems and projects into manageable goals. Ability to get to the heart of the problem and make sound and timely decisions to resolve problems. 10%Ability to develop people, skills in coaching, mentoring, and teaching on the job. Ability to identify and recruit talent, including identifying right people for both technical and non-technical jobs. Skills at performance management, recognizing and rewarding performance and identifying development needs. Effectiveness in building trust, respect and cooperation among teams. 20% REQUIREMENTSBachelor's Degree from 4 year college or university.Eight to ten years experience in executing Data Governance or Data Management improvement initiatives. Demonstrated understanding of Data Governance methodologies and concepts.Demonstrated leadership and partnering skills with both technical and non-technical partners (including senior leadership) with focus on informing, influencing, and relationship building.Skilled at setting strategies, and developing and executing plans around the strategies.Strong consultative skills which includes the proven ability to influence consensus decision making across a variety of stakeholders and to succinctly document the outcome of these decisions.Self-motivated and results-oriented.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Demonstrable track record dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile, fast-paced environment. Travel: Willingness to travel up to 15%, which may include international travel.
