Southfield, MI Where the Chemistry Happens We are seeking a professional like you to support day-to-day supply stream procurement activities for the assigned category mix, and the implementation of category strategies. You will provide regional input related to supply and demand market dynamics for the development of the category strategy including tail end spend management. In addition, you will routinely engage with the associated business units and suppliers to align supplier capabilities with BASF strategic priorities, and explore creative and strategic supply solutions for new and existing raw materials. This position is designed specifically as a developmental role and will be used to provide exposure to procurement, and to train the individual on the basic skills of category management across multiple business clusters. It is expected that the selected individual would be prepared to step into a specific category buying role when the opportunity arises. This development position is an accelerated development experience for candidates who require a cross business and/or cross functional assignment based on their development goals. Candidate should have track record of getting results in first time, diverse and changing conditions and demonstrating higher performance over time. Due to the developmental nature of this role, time in role is between 18-36 months. Formula for SuccessLeveraging your educational and professional background in procurement or in a buying function, you will support development of supply strategies for the North American region, working closely with the business unit and the Procurement network to develop and implement sourcing strategies for products related to this portfolio.Using your strong ability to lead and influence others, you will lead, manage, or assist the sourcing process (e.g., RFI, RFQ, RFP) for key strategic contracts and highly complex negotiations to ensure the most competitive supply advantage for BASF.Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be a valued asset in your role as a relationship manager for key suppliers, which will include monitoring performance metrics, resolving claims and/or disputes, market intelligence and other contributing factors affecting supply availability and pricing of products procured.Capitalizing on your experience in procurement and/or buying functions, you will conduct market intelligence research by interacting with key suppliers, industry associations, and internal stakeholders to collect industry relevant information and rationalizing to assess impact on current and future business.Your solid problem-solving skills will be essential in supporting purchase order creation and processing as appropriate.Engaging across the organization, you will assist with special projects within Procurement.
